When it’s better to be deep than flashy

For some weird reason, I find myself fascinated by ESPN’s FPI ranking Clemson first, Alabama second and Georgia third, while its group of pundits show the Dawgs with only two of the nation’s top fifty players (neither inside the top 30), while Clemson and Alabama have five each on their rosters.

I don’t mean that as a complaint.  It’s really interesting to me how much weight is being attributed to depth.

It’s probably just me.

Its not you. Whats even more impressive is the drop off from the Top 5 to the rest of the teams. Auburn at 20.4, Miss St. at 15.1. And right behind us is South Carolina at… 9.9….

  2. I bet their list of top 50 players has more UGA players at the end of the season than at the beginning. But what do I know?

The top 25 includes Clemson’s entire returning defensive line.

You say that like it’s a bad thing. Bizarro World for this 69 year old. I am not a good Christian, and there are certainly some idiots at the extreme end of the scale that are really bad Christians, but the majority of people in many religions that live by a strong code of ethics and do little no harm should never be criticized for it. To my knowledge, DAbo seems a damned good man, and a helluva coach. Perhaps you have some information to the contrary, or maybe just a weird chip on your shoulders.

ESPN’s FPI ranking has ND at #6. So much for ESPN’s credibility……..

These numbers are such a joke. Clemson has the #15 sos rank… we are at #50. Yet their opponents average fpi ranking is appx #37 while ours is appx #42. I didn’t add all the others up but I guarantee there are not 35 teams between 37 and 42.

And of course the acc has the most teams in top 15 sos rankings. That woman Clemson homer at espn must have pictures or recordings.
