The ultimate negative recruiting move?

If this is true, it may be.

************************************************************************

UPDATE:  Gory details here.

Texas Coach Tom Herman, a former Ohio State assistant coach, tipped sports reporter Brett McMurphy to details of the Zach Smith-Courtney Carano Smith relationship that led to Smith’s firing, Urban Meyer’s paid-administrative leave and the investigation that has currently engulfed the Buckeyes’ program, several sources told me.

Furthermore, Tom and wife Michelle Herman encouraged Courtney Smith to go public with her claims that her ex-husband had physically abused her, sources say.

“They wanted Zach Smith fired,” one source said. “They had some dirt on him and wanted him off of Ohio State’s staff.”

The Hermans have even helped pay for Courtney Smith’s legal fees, two of my sources told me.

My question is – if Herman knew while at tOSU wouldn’t he be obligated to report also?

I believe he was at UH at the time of the 2015 incident—— although I agree, if there were previous incidents that were not reported, that could be problematic.

^^This. Does the Texas AD now have a problem? If Herman knew and did/said nothing why isn’t he culpable too? And if the Shane Beamer rule applies to all schools if the Texas AD takes no action to discipline Herman is the Texas AD on the hot seat? See my posts about Greg McGarity on the thread below entitled “When you’ve got nothing good to say…”

        Question 1. No.
Question 2. Not applicable. Herman was no5 employed by OSU in 2015.
Question 3. The question is based on two false premises. A. There is no Shane Breamer Rule, and B. Herman was not at OSU in 2015 and therefore may not have known and, not being under contract with OSU had no duty to report.

All he had to do was say something to Urban and he is covered. Urban was his boss and if he did nothing, it falls back on Meyer. Something tells me Herman covered himself.

Well he would certainly know as the former OC up there. Why the hell would someone burn their source like that? Herman knows the inside skinny and is not worried about the repercussions. He is probably where you would get some semblance of what the Corch culture is like.

At minimum Herman is off Corch’s Christmas list. Maybe a lot worse than that too if people start asking questions about Herman’s own culpability. I suspect old Tom isn’t going to be very popular with the Ohio State faithful either.

Snook is dropping a lot of very similar themed articles. First, it was Courtney and Zach’s mothers both talking about Courtney was out to get her husband and UM. Now it’s Herman out to get UM. I am not sure what either situation has to do with UM and his decision to fire Zach. It would appear that both articles are centered around everyone is trying to bring down UM… smoke and mirrors to deflect the real issue IMO.

Snook is on the take. OSU grad and four books on OSU. He’s operating on the OSU smear campaign. Man, what a dirty program.

The sad and pathetic thing is Snook probably isn’t on the take–he’s just that deluded. Courtney Smith’s mom, though…

Snook = Alex Jones. Says a lot more about the OSU audience than it does the author.

  6. Herman and Corch had a falling out of sorts after Herman departed for Houston. Some of you may recall Herman complaining about the lack of talent left behind by Strong during his first year at Texas, to which Meyer replied publicly that is b.s., as you should never make excuses as to why you’re losing. That really irked Herman and the relationship became even frostier.

And now I guess Herman believes that Smith “stole” a 5 star from under his nose in Austin. And Courtney’s mom has different story now. This beats The Young and the Restless.

As someone that has always disliked Ohio State football and despised CUM, this is pure gold reading on the beach in August. What a mess from just about every angle. Just when you think it’s going to be quiet until the investigation is complete this week (yeah right) stuff like this comes out. What a total embarrassment to tOSU

Meanwhile we might have our own issues with that John Emery tweet. Might have been joking. Probably was joking. But incredibly stupid regardless.

Hahahaha! What the hell is going on here?! I’m patiently waiting for amazon or Netflix to produce a “dramatization “ of college football coaches. It gets more like Escobar every day.

You’ll recall that the Florida media, too, were as sycophantic as it gets when Meyer was in Gainesville. He must have some Svengali-like powers when it comes to local reporters/columnists.

If Greg Schiano’s career mobility wasn’t already shot from being at Penn State during the Sandusky allegations, being around the Zach Smith allegations just finished the job.

The Snook stuff seemed destined to entrench the blind loyalists while simultaneously making Smith and everything around him look that more gross. Well, mission accomplished.

How much money can Meyer make on the wingnut tOSU “I wuz framed!” dinner circuit? Because that’s going to be his sole earning opportunity for awhile.

I am not sure where this ends up and I have to say that this “situation” has infected the entire tOSU nation. I just can’t see how the institution maintains any credibility without action taken on some level. The situation reminds me of an Econ professor I had at MBA school. He put a problem up on the board and asked someone to solve it. I spent the next 20 minutes walking through how to solve it in a very logical way with the professor doing the math on the board. When complete, everyone in class was in awe… the professor sat there looking at the problem and said very good… I can follow your logic. And then he said… But no, you are completely wrong.

That is how I think tOSU fans are reacting. They lay out somewhat logical arguments that people can nod to and then Brett McMurphy comes in and says, no, you are completely wrong.

All that is well and good, but what does Herbie say? Just kidding. If Herbie is smart he doesn’t say anything. The comparison above between Snook and Alex Jones is spot on, imo.

Snook’s “reporting” had exactly the desired effect. Fuel victim blaming, entrenching the OSU base and muddying the waters to the outsiders. It’s gross. Taking lessons from Fox.
