I said it before and I’ll say it again — keep an eye on Tyson Campbell.
The Skinny: That’s right, we’re predicting a freshman starter here because, why not? Campbell is having a great camp and he’s only going to get better. He has elite size, speed, and quickness. His maturity level is also advanced for a freshman.
If not by the opener, well before the season’s end is my prediction. He’s too good a fit for what Smart and Tucker want in a cornerback to stay off the field.
I sure wish my Dad were alive to see all of this.

My dad AND my brother…….. I’d be having some fun with them right about now. They were Big Urnge fans!

Could happen sooner than later with reports that Tyrique McGhee is out 4-6 weeks with a foot injury.

The Senator must have been poking a McGhee voodoo doll with a needle when he wrote this post.

Hopefully not over-hyped like Brendan Langley…..Clem just scored on him again!

Smart doesn’t recruit players like Langley

First game as a true freshman in a Grantham defense. And Langley was drafted last year. I don’t know that Brendan Lanley was over-hyped as much as thrown in the deep end without support. I put that on the coaches. He was clearly not what Pruitt wanted in a CB.

Knocked it out of the park didn’t he?
Campbell was really flying under the radar with the recruiting services!

Yes, and it’s a well-known fact that every highly-rated recruit starts at Georgia his freshman season.

Tony Flack did it 36 years ago!
Robert Edwards started as a freshman corner in 1993.
Those are the two corners I can think of that started straight out of HS.
All 3 have something in common: size and speed.
My recollection is that Champ Bailey played safety as a freshman wearing #42.

This is the sort of freshmen news I’ve been hoping for: https://www.dawgnation.com/football/team-news/practice-report-a-freshman-working-with-georgias-no-1-offensive-line

I didn’t see tha coming. Maybe Salyer or Hill but Mays at left guard is interesting. It tells me that he is not supplanting Wilson at RT. We have an embarrassment of riches on the O-line. 50 years of Dawg football and I have never said anything even remotely close to that statement.

I’m excited about Campbell but I glad McGhee’s injury doesn’t sound toobad. Mean I g he will be out for a few weeks rather than a few months.

Agreed, Cooley. This may actually help build some depth and hopefully he’s back sooner than later.
