Joy

If you haven’t seen this clip before, it’s a real treat.  I don’t think it requires an introduction.

This is the kind of thing that makes college sports so special.

Wore a Rose Bowl t-shirt around NYC yesterday and had multiple comments about how awesome a game it was. I know it’s not Montana, but still…

That was actually a fascinating angle to see. Amazing how quickly the grounds crew dropped the goal posts.

I’m glad I didn’t have a musical instrument with me at the game. It would have been crushed much like my head was by my buddies. Not sure how my hat survived. Great time for the band and all Dawg fans! Let’s have more of that this year!

  6. Just wow! If that doesn’t get you ready for September 1 regardless of the opponent, turn in your Dawg card.

The reaction of the girls with the piccolos (sp) was priceless.

For some reason, I held up my camera and hit “record” just before the ball was snapped on the final play. I was sitting in the corner near where Mayfield caught his TD pass, so my view is a little higher and wider. Caught the whole play and about 2 minutes of pandemonium. Only other plays in my life like that moment of pure joy? Lindsay Scott in Jacksonville. Poulos over the top in Atlanta. Greene to Johnson at Auburn. Maybe Herschel in Knoxville. None were better than SONY FOR THE WIN!

If you can watch that without shedding a tear or getting fired up enough to run through a wall you ain’t wired right.

You are so right, Senator. I’m living much of this excitement through my daughter now. I noted in 2016 that my daughter was accepted into UGA and she graduates this December. Before becoming a ‘real’ Dawg, she didn’t know the difference between a football and a basketball. Now, she gets way more emotional than I. I have experienced the highs and lows with her. I didn’t realize how emotionally invested she was until the UT game of 2016. That last second Hail Mary broke her heart. She called me crying. I LOVE to see these young kids enjoy something that has been a passion of ours for so many years. It’s one thing that us old coots and young students can connect.

Right on. It gets into your blood. Especially if you are in Redcoats.

I completely understand as I have a very similar situation. My daughter graduated last May and my son is a Senior. I live out of state and only get to see a couple of games a year so my daughter and I text endlessly during the games. Many times she’ asking me what I can see on a replay and telling all her friends. Evidently they even ask her to find out what I can see. Last year, I was traveling in Asia (12 hours time difference) during the first Auburn game. I was awakened to multiple texts from her pleading me to wake up as she was freaking out.

Also, they were both at the Rose Bowl and got to experience that joy.

Its just so fantastic to share the love for the Dawgs with them. At this point, they are invested every bit as much as I am.

My eyes are leaking! They also leak when I watch the “Born for Greatness UGA 2018 Hype Video” on You Tube. It’s awesome!

The incredible thing is how quickly they recovered and started playing! It was also nut show fats they got the goal post down, rolled out the platform and blew up the confetti.

We were right next to them an, after seeing them in the parade that morning, I have a whole new appreciation for the band and how hard they work.

Was down there in the next section over. Usually, end zone seats that low are among the worst you can get.

    But not this game.

I feel so lucky to have been there. One of the best college football experiences I’ve ever had, and that includes 1981 Sugar Bowl/National Championship. Just beautiful!

And it’s amazing how the Red Coats can play with that going on.

And the parade took something like 4 hours! There are videos of them all along the route and they just played and played and played!

You want to run through a wall? Queue up the Rose Bowl at the start of the third quarter, watch us 3-and-out their ass, then hand it to Nick who sheds 3-4 tacklers and violently runs 50+ yards to put us within a score.

SEC network will be showing this game Tuesday, the 21st, at 8pm. I can’t wait to see one of my favorite scenes, Baker Mayfield looking like he is going to puke at the end! The only time he was legitimately sick! HA!

Great clip. The band works so hard. Having the breath to play after getting so excited is hard. They will remember that trip forever.

There is truly nothing quite like the unbridled joy of young people who are so invested in a team at a moment like that. If we could just bottle that and pass it around the world we’d sure have a lot less conflict.

Discipline is when all you want to do is jump and cry and scream and hug your friends, but you put all that on hold for yourself to provide that familiar soundtrack for the celebration for the rest of us.

If the sight of those kids crying for joy while playing their instruments doesn’t grab you then you’re not grabbable.

Also, these kids getting their “air time” squeezed by all that piped in shit makes me want to puke.

That was a great clip, a perspective you don’t often see. Thanks for posting that. I also appreciate the comments that recognize what a long day that was for the Redcoats. But I bet they still went long into the night afterwards, one of those moments in life that will never be diminished.

As we wandered around trying to get our bearings and find our car we came up on the band busses and the big tables of Chic-Fil-A boxes they were getting while they boarded!

The Redcoat Band finished the fight song with Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” from his Symphony No. 9th. Now that was some class right there.
