The vector of the disease is spreading.

Doctor:  Gator fans, the test results are back and the results are troubling.  Your coach is in the early stages of Boochitis.

If symptoms persist, the only known cure is a Boochectomy.

OT a bit, but I saw where Mullen awarded two walk ons schollies. And I realized that doesn’t happen as much at UGA as in the past. Or does it? I know Hot Rod got one last year, but I’ve not seen any at fall camp.

    • Hot Rod walked on knowing if he performed well he would get a scholarship (I would call him a preferred preferred walk-on). He wasn’t a Connor Norman type of walk-on who got awarded because we had ‘ships available.

That’s a pleasant side effect of proper roster management. 😉

It will be practically non-existent under this regime. There just won’t be room. Kirby will be looking to stay at 85 as much as possible.

I’m glad one opened up for Rodrigo. He’s definitely deserving. I saw where he is currently our all-time leader in accuracy. We’ve had a ton of great FG kickers.

We had a couple walk-ons. They go by the names Jay Hayes and DRob.

To be honest, the transfer option did not exist until recently. All team send up with a vacancy, using it to reward deserving kids was the right thing to do up until very recently. It is legit to say we had too many opportunities, but wasting the chance to give a hard charging 2nd tier player a pat on the back was a no-brainer for all coaches in that period of time.

To incent walkons, I wonder if he should reserve one every year for at least one walkon? That would not only be pretty cool and a feel good story but may buy him a lot of effort / interest.

Nah, those “feel good story” days are over. We’ve gone from having 8 or 9 spots left to give walk-ons every year to worrying about how to whittle down to 85. The good news is our preferred WO program may just be the best setup in the country. I believe PWO’s get meals free at the training table, and then with Hope the cost is further reduced. I know Auburn for one has complained to the conference about it being an unfair advantage.

Yeah, because they are known for being such sticklers for the rules! 🙂 They could consider turning out the vote for their own state lottery, there is only like eight states that haven’t realized it is a “tax on the willing”. Kind of like why counties that aren’t dry have better roads and newer schools (if they choose to) as if that hinders folks from getting alcohol.

Opportunity is nowhere, brick by brick, your coach is a clown and probably a dick.

I didn’t pay much attention to Mullen at MSU. Did he say goofy shit all the time there, too?

They should put that up on a banner in the swamp next to that stupid “Work em Silly Gators” sign on a bedsheet they hang up for the home games.

Mullen acts a bit like a buffoon. Seeing the Gators lose 3-4 a year for the foreseeable future will be entertaining.

THEY PLAYIN’ WITH 5 STAR HEARTS, Y’ALL!

I could be wrong, but it sounds more like mid 90s UGA, trying to convince themselves they could compete with Spurrier and UF, than Irvin Meyer’s arrogant champion (h/t to Zach the Bearfighter) years. I can only hope the soul crushing realization that it was all an illusion after we thump them in Jville is as painful for them as it was for us back then.

I think they’ll have two losses heading to Jacksonville, so the shine will probably already be off. If they do get there at 6-1, it would be fun to see Georgia thump them back into reality. I’ll need to see Georgia dominate that game this year before I’m completely sold on things being different, though.

His on-camera persona differs from his coaching ability methinks. Trying not to be trashy with personal comments, but can’t help thinking there is a possum behind that grin.

Mullen is a very good coach with a proven ability to develop a QB. The Philadelphia in him may make him a little flinty for most Southern folks, but I’m sure after years of dealing with him in the West, our coach won’t misunderestimate him.

I’m not sure how much Mullen has proven he can “develop” A QB. He didn’t really develop Tebow into a QB – more like a running back who could shovel pass.

  10. We’re going to run those Gators all the way to Starke, so they can drop a few of their players off at the state prison on their way back to the Armpit.

Just can not remember a time when the lizards were such a mess of a program and the Vols with such a lack of talent and direction.

I’m tellin ya, all we’ve got to do is get Mullen on a boat. The shark and a handy camera phone will do the rest! Or perhaps Mullen prefers manatees.

Mullen should be rushed to the, Saban Institute for Asshole Coaching, on the campus of the University of Alabama. There, sports medicine specialists will be able to properly treat Dan. After all, they already have Butch there, patient number 1, whom I’m sure they can use to synthesize a cure. Look at all the fine work they’ve done so far, Kiffy can walk now, and Sark is almost normal.

I find it weird how much Mullen is acting like a self-conscious rookie coach who is in over his head. Of all the possible outcomes of his getting hired there, I was at least expecting him to act like an old soldier who’s “been there”.

He better be able to coach them up. The fans are already restless over his recruiting.
