It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it.

TFW you’re a Georgia Tech beat writer who has to deal with yesterday’s embarrassing loss to… wait for it… South Florida.

Remember, folks, the triple option can never fail.  It can only be failed.

Yesterday toward the end of the game announcer Mark Jones mentioned that Coach Paul Johnson was put off by the idea that Georgia Tech couldn’t come from behind against anyone, that was a misnomer, of course they could! Much hilarity then ensued with the vaunted GT “passing game.” I look forward to CPJ attempting to prove to everyone that the bugs can come from behind this year, gosh darn it. Don’t get down after your first try, boys–keep chopping that come-from-behind-passing-game wood.

The GT game at years end gets ZERO play nationally.

Two kickoff return TDs in the first quarter. That has to sting.

Hopefully everyone stops by stingtalk today. Nothing new. Just the same old excuses with a bit more bitter anger mixed in.

If my gut reaction to a loss to a Group of 5 team was, “Yay, they didn’t hang 70 on us,” I believe I’d find another sport to follow.

What a great Saturday; Dawgs win big, Tech wrecks, and the stunned Gators sink in the bog with their new messiah.

who’s the favorite to replace fish face… Mel or Dell?

    • Neither … because I don’t think either one of them will want to rebuild that roster to play 21st century college football as their first head coaching job.

No way the big donors at the trade school allow someone with any UGA ties to be the face of their program. Their alumni would have an absolute fit.

      • The Dawg abides

Bill Lewis disagrees. Seriously though, I think the best transition with that kind of roster would be an up-tempo spread. Enough grad transfer qb’s are floating around, then grab a couple of wr transfers to go with the smallish, quick slot backs they have. The line is already the smaller, quicker types, and they usually have a couple of decent rb’s. I would hate to see someone like Phil Longo take the job.
I hope the option is fully ingrained in their DNA like it is at Southern. I know the cut blocks are a pain in the ass, but hopefully the new rules will eventually get that out of the game. Looking over Stingtalk last night, most people there seem totally unaware that a main reason they can’t get better recruits on defense is because nobody with better offers or NFL aspirations wants to practice against that antiquated offense.

        • Good point, but hadn’t Bill Lewis been the head coach at ECU before he came to Fech? I guess my point is no one with immediate ties at UGA would be welcome as head coach at the trade school.
