The most interesting and notable note from Tuesday was Phillip Fulmer’s presence on the field. The former Hall of Fame coach has been at every practice this fall, but today, Fulmer wasn’t in khakis and a jacket but full sweats with a practice outline in his hand. He watched the QBs, WRs and TEs, but mostly observed the offensive line, offering tips to Trey Smith, K’Rojhn Calbert, Drew Richmond and Riley Locklear, among others.
In case you ever wondered how much Jeremy Pruitt wanted a head coaching job, that’s how much.
Not to mention the fact that I bet all the other coaches of all the other sports in their athletic department must love being ignored. Geez, he’s been at every practice? Maybe I’m reading too much into that and more often than not he just makes an appearance at practice and doesn’t hang around long. But it wouldn’t shock me if he’s there prettty much the whole time.

Wow, and they haven’t even started SEC play yet. By Bama week, Fulmer will be leading practice while Pruitt watches from the tower.

When that relationship goes south (and it will) oh MAN is it going to be fun to watch…

Reading that take over and over had led me to believe it was just a product of Fulmer hate and old resentments for coaching an NC and that had to be exorcised. Now, after reading this, I concur with your statement.

Imagine trying to do your job with the Boss’s boss looking over your shoulder every day at practice. That shit would be seriously stressfull in an already stressful profession. I’m sure all the assistants are thrilled with the help.

Player compensation seems to be working pretty well for Georgia so far. I keed.

Haha, that didn’t take long. Just imagine the confusion among the players, who do they listen to, and when? What if fulmer screws up a play direction and the OC is like “what the hell are they doing?”

Pruitt has self reported several times but the AD never notifies the NCAA for some reason.

That’s my question. The NCAA limits the number of coaches. Teams like Alabama and us get around that by having analysts who can’t communicate with players and can’t be at practice. Fat Phil on the sideline coaching players up has to violate that.

I think this is going to go one way or the other. I could be wrong, but I’m sensing it’s going to go into the crapper. Fulmer is too full of himself.

You misspelled that last word.

Actually it doesn’t look like Phil’s ever been too full of anything.

Pruitt is going to get tired of that shizz and it’s going to be fantastic to watch.

Oh to be fly on the goal post of that practice field. A stage 5 shitshow is brewing.
Just curious, how often does McGarity attend practice, if at all?

My guess is when it’s in the IPF or not above the mid 70’s

…and if he did attend practice, would he wear sweats or a tennis skirt?

The “tennis skirt” crack is uncalled for. Haven’t you ever heard of a tutu?

They were touting the NC team celebration with Fulmer on the cover before the season even started. Not sure what anyone expected. Hell, they rehired Fulmer. Not sure what anyone expected.

The question for the powers that be at Tennessee is, “What purpose does having Phil Fulmer as athletic director serve?”.
He was a useful tool for getting rid of John Currie and bringing in a head coach the fanbase could support, but now that that’s done there’s not much further need for him and stunts like showing up at practice to coach the O line don’t help his cause.
My prediction is that within the next year or two there will be a conversation had with Phil followed by an announcement that he is stepping down as AD but will continue to be involved . . . etc etc. This will happen regardless of how well Pruitt performs.

Rest assure this if Pruitt’s team and staff.
Pruitt can coach and he has a good staff.
Like so many of you dudes you create a crisis or issue about nothing.
That is what you do.
What you might want to do is mute it, and watch a few clips of their play and coaching.
You can go back thru Pruitt’s coaching history and tree.
He runs the show.
UT AD and Board are not going to get in his way.
Otherwise they will have a hard time hiring down the road.
Hopefully no one is that stupid.
But, hey, in today’s overdosed news media and commentators who are dumb down, who knows.
There are two assistants on that team that Smart would take if the situation and circumstances arose.
Less than a year on the job and two games in.
Sorta reminds me of Smart’s first year from the other side and what opposing folks said about him.
