Today, in Heisman Watch

Reading this, it suddenly dawns on me that Tua Tagovailoa is the quarterback whom Auburn fans mistakenly think Gus Malzahn has going into every season.

I’d be interested to see who cast the lone vote for Drew Lock after his showing last Saturday.

Saw one of those record-scratch-moment stats on the tweeter yesterday,

Jalen Hurts has more TD passes this year than Jarrett Stidham.

What are you talking about??? I was told Jarrett Stidham was a Heisman front-runner!

Senator, that sentence is such a top quality burn that I’m not certain that clicking through the link might not be anticlimactic.

Noticed this was filed under “Auburn’s Cast of Thousands”. Shouldn’t Thousands have a $ in front of it?

My brother-in-law calls him Poi Boy. But he’s damned good. Maybe we should serve poi at our training table.

It would be pretty funny if Will Grier ends up with the Heisman after his FLA stint.

Perfect, if Tua reads USA Today and he is still a solid contender at the end of the season…
Whoever wrote Proverbs was thinking of the SECCG 2018 and was a UGa fan: Book of Proverbs, 16:18, Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
In Tua’s mind he probably has already won the trophy so why prepare and over-achieve?
Moses must have looked good in red and black and maybe he even had a red ‘G’ painted on his forehead….sheep blood and all….One other piece of historical evidence that Father M was a bulldog was his insisting on worshiping on Saturday. (A sacred day for Athens in the fall). Finally, when do the dawgs regularly perform ritual sacrifices? Saturdays. The goats are dragged in knowing nothing good is going to happen to them.
Next goat up…..Jeremy ‘the white board slayer’ Pruitt.

Am I going to end up hating Tua as much as Tebow? Tua doesn’t seem to be as big of a d-bag, but the hype seems like it might be even worse, of that’s possible.

TBH, I haven’t seen Tua flapping his arms like a douche. He can’t help the hype machine. Seems like a quiet kid otherwise, just a really good QB.

It’s hard to say I like the kid after the NC game, but seeing what he’s doing is impressive. He also seems a bit more humble than Tebow did at Florida and light years ahead of Mayfield in that category. Having watched all his games, the part that worries me is that it isn’t hype. Alabama with a defense and an offense like this one is shaping up to be, makes me wonder if this nightmare is ever going to be over.

Two members of the Auburn Family told me in the offseason that they’d rather have Stidham than Tua. I am pretty sure they were serious. It was remarkable.

Not sure if they still believe this.

I think Aesop had a learning fable concerning that kind of b-s.
Heard the same lies from ‘Bama fans when Auburn had Cam.

remember, this is the same fan base that will sneeringly tell you “Bo was better than Herschel” and call you an idiot if you disagree. I usually respond “Well, sure. In baseball.” HW is the greatest college RB of all time. Full stop.

Stidham? He’s an ok QB, but AU’s OL sucks this year, as does their run game. Makes it tough for a non mobile QB to fool anyone, doesn’t it?

How do we know that Bo was a better baseball player than Herschel? Herschel did not play baseball, but how do you know he would not have been better than Bo is he had gone out for the team?

        • Speaking of which, our D better step up against Kentucky. A friend of mine who is a big UK fan sent me this, I haven’t verified it:

“Benny Snell is 11 rush TDs away from breaking Hershel Walkers record of TDs before senior year.”

Well, to be fair, that wasn’t that outlandish of a statement back in the summer. Stidham was voted ahead of Tua by the coaches and media for second-team all-SEC.

I doubt anyone would prefer Stidham today, though.

Well, one of the QB “controversies” seems to be playing out. Kelly Bryant getting ready to transfer from Clemson after Lawrence was named the starter?

They are both excellent QB’s but Lawrence is young and seems to have a ridiculously high accomplishment ceiling.
But if this is a rumor, I’m sure Gus has his ears perked up.

I hope he stays. At least for the rest of the year. As much as I hate Saban’s lectures from the podium, this free agency thing doesn’t look to be as far fetched as I thought. Especially with the QB position. Some team is going to get burned badly when they’re competing for a title, lose the starter and not have a viable option at QB because they left midseason. Our situation is playing out OK this year, I’m not sure next year is will be the same.

No show at practice Monday excused, Tuesday unexcused. Kudos to Dabo for making his decision within the redshirt window? I guess?
