Yes, this. Murray should be the most talked about QB at this point, kid is a great athlete. Hard to imagine a team losing Mayfield and hitting the floor running like they have. Riley will be a handful of they ever get a solid defense, heck, he is without one! Taking the Sooners this weekend.

I’ll admit I’m surprised Jerry hasn’t offered to strike a Texas-sized check to both schools to move the game from the Cotton Bowl to his world.
I understand the tradition of the game being played at the Cotton Bowl during the Texas State Fair, but those who run the sport have thrown tradition to the wind when faced with a check with at least 6 zeroes on it.
I will always call it the Red River Shootout as well.

I believe the move has been discussed, and the Cotton Bowl had to make major improvements. The negotiations and views by the fan bases has its similarities to the WLOCP. Anyone remember going to the Gator Bowl in the mid/late 80s before the Jags moved in?

Erector set stadium, Georgia and Florida fans seated in quarters, lax alcohol enforcement, fewer TV timeouts, and everyone being close to the field kept you on your toes, for sure.

Yeah, I loved the Gator Bowl, and love all those old bowl-type stadiums like the Cotton Bowl and Rose Bowl. Not a bad seat in any of them. Getting in and out can be a pain, though. I’ll take it for the views.

It’s an awesome environment which you are more likely to overindulge yourself in food than drink. Seats are small and close in the Cotton Bowl and it keeps everyone focused on the field.
Moving it to boring Arlington would definitely be a buzz killer.

I guess my wife (a Longhorn) has influenced me, but I think I’ve always pulled for Texas. OU seemed like the Miami of the midwest. I don’t mean that as a compliment, either. I mean like the mouthy Miami of the mid 80’s.

My only trip to the Cotton Bowl was after the 1975 season when we played Arkansas. Anyone remember the shoestring play? I was so pissed. The worst thing about that game was they ran out of coke at halftime. The second half I had to mix my bourbon with Dr Pepper. It was a long drive back on I-20.
