Okay, so it may not have the long term implications of the 2003 game or the 1998 game ($$), but for my money, the last time Georgia and LSU met goes down as the most entertaining game of the series.
From the touchdown pass that put Georgia up for good though the fourth-and-ten incompletion that sealed the deal, that was the loudest Sanford Stadium crowd I’ve ever been a part of.
Competitive from start to finish, with guys all over the field who went on to the NFL, the game was a complete blast, with more lead changes than you could shake a stick at. And, of course, there was the quarterback story that just added to the drama.
The post-game scene was one of the best moments CBS ever shared. That comment from Danielson at the end of the broadcast as he watched Murray congratulate Landry may be the most personally honest thing I’ve ever heard him say.
It’s why I love college football, damn it.

I remember missing the first part of that game because I live in MD and the CBS broadcast didn’t switch over to the LSU/UGA game until some other game had finished and it was taking forever. I was losing my mind.

Will never forget that game. Ever.
Was in the stands with Daughter #2 who was contemplating UGA and another school at that time. Walking out, she said “I am going to UGA”.
Was a good day. A very good day.

I wasn’t at that game, but I was at the stadium in 1979 when a mediocre UGA team beat LSU and Charles Alexander “the great”. That was my first real taste of a big win, and a hint of what was to come the next 4 years.

Not often you get to see two Georgia QBs duel one another on a stage that big. Certainly one of the best UGA home games in recent memory.

Best football game i’ve ever attended. Lost my voice for a week, and it was well worth it. I’ll also add, Mark Richt is an incredible human being. I happen to think Kirby is the perfect mix of a Saban coaching mentality combined with Richt’s people skills. At times he can be brusk, but you can tell he really, really cares about our team.

I was there with my son Sam. I remember building up the outlandishness of the LSU fan’s garb before we got to town. Imagine my disappointment when I couldn’t find and pimped out Cajuns. Good thing the game did live up to the hype. It’s interesting that my memories of Sanford stadium being the loudest tend to involve LSU games. 2013 and 2004 were at ear bleeding levels.

Despite most on this site constantly shitting on the tailend of the Richt years, 2013 is right there neck and neck with 2002, 2007 and 2017 for most “fun” and memorable seasons…

I was there with Mad Mike that day and it is probably my favorite game that I have ever watched between the hedges. The stadium was deafening. The post game scene was one of the coolest things I have ever watched and it is what makes college football the greatest sport in the world. I remember a group of highschool football players were right in front of us as we made the slow egress from the stadium and they were talking excitedly about the Dawgs. I don’t know if they were recruits or not but from listening to things they said I remember thinking we were becoming one of those programs that has that buzz you need to become a top program. That wouldn’t actually happen for a few more years but… And I don’t know what Danielson comment the Senator is referencing. What did he say? I will never forget that day. And as for that 2013 team, what might have been?

Living in California and all, I usually only make one home game a year, and was so lucky to be at that one. Exciting from beginning to end, a sensational post-game with players on the field for what seemed like an hour, and a win worth savoring in what turned out to be a disappointing season. And yeah, Sanford was CRAZY LOUD.

I have a sliver of regret in that I chose the 2013 South Carolina game as the one to bring my Dad to for his first game between the hedges since the Herschel era. Like a fussy kid who feels left out, I want to scream “that game was great too ! ! ” Which seems odd, because that one was epic but became overshadowed just 2 weeks later. Only reason I chose that one was to mix it up because I had traditionally always chosen a west rotating opponent for the rarity of matchups (even though it sure seems like we rotate LSU twice as much as anybody else).
