Get it out of your system, aight?

My trust in advanced stats has never been high, but it’s even lower now. There, I said it.
Just curious: if UGA had managed to bring its A game to Baton Rouge, which team do you think would have won?
What if that was our A game? (I don’t think it was, but I thought we’d handle them, too)
I guess the program is doomed.
Why would we only want to play in a dome? We have a perfectly good outdoor stadium. 😊
In all seriousness, we fall flat on our face in Baton Rouge after a full half season of underwhelming victories. At what point do we just acknowledge it’s who we are this year?
If the same thing happens in Jax.
Falling flat on our face or an underwhelming win?
I agree. Wait until Florida to see.
Optimism before 2007 Florida game was not real high (anyone remember the pictures going around of Stafford and Knowshon partying with those 2 girls?) and we whooped up on them and caught fire.
Also, 2012 we had at least as bad of a loss as LSU and there was plenty of grumbling from fans until our one of our own players called out the defense for being soft.
my optimism before Florida 07 was about zero. We lucked our way past Vandy, if you recall, after gacking up a bad one to South Carolina. Honest to dawg, I wasn’t sure we could win a game the rest of the year. Turns out I am not much of a predictor. 18-22 year old kids can sometimes turn around 180 degrees in a second, next thing you know we are clubbing Colt Brennan like he was a baby seal. Guess that’s why we go ahead and play the games. Hope we get that kind of spark in Jacksonville.

Underwhelming 4 touchdown victories
Given the #2 ranking I think that’s a fair assessment after only being up 12 on Tennessee in the 4th quarter and allowing over 6 ypc against Vandy, I could go on but you get the idea. There was cause for concern that developed into full blown failure in Baton Rouge.
Perspective, CB. Stop viewing everything through the lens of what Alabama has done.
I’m viewing everything through the lens of what every national champion has done over the course of my life. I’m not asking for 5-6 titles. I just want one.
“Bless your heart”
If you’re not then why are you here?
Are you 7? That 2010 Auburn team was often underwhelming, barely squeaked by Miss State and Kentucky….
They lost zero games, I’m not talking about style points, I’m talking about not losing.
How many teams in the playoff era have entered the post-season undefeated?
You mean in the vast history of the past 4 years? I’m not sure if any have. What’s your point?
I think not playing starters past mid third qtr has really hurt. I get not running up the score, but the whole team looks disjangled, and I think it because of limited playing time for starters.
Too many cupcakes, too much talent.
LSUnhas a good team and had been tested. We had not
One loss and your writing this team off?
We’re not going to lose again in the regular season, and will have to do the nearly impossible to win the SEC title again…
but I ain’t throwing in the towel…not under any circumstances.
You’re either a troll or a fair weather “fan”.
Not much difference, actually.
Yo, what’s with the dramatic display? Believe it or not mine nor your opinions or predictions will have any effect whatsoever on what actually happens with the program going forward so I wouldn’t waste my time getting all worked up over a dissenting point of view.
If by fair weather you mean I refuse to support mediocrity and I only care about the team to the extent that I want them to win a title regardless of who is playing or coaching then yeah I’m a fair weather fan. Was Tiger Stadium pretty cool? Yes. Do a regret driving 18 hours round trip and spending over $300 on tickets. Not totally, but kinda.
Do I regret*
Dude. Get your head out of the oven.
Coaches or players??
Senator, what exactly does “bring it’s A game” mean. I assume Kirby and the the other coaches prepared the team the best they could to win the game. I’m sure the players did their best. Their best wasn’t good enough on that day. If they weren’t doing their best, we have far bigger problems than anyone realizes.
You’ve never seen the team play better than that this season?
I’ve seen what we were trying to do work better. But that was against different competition.
Hi, my name is Russ and I’m an advanced stats denier.
I like it! People around the world crunched the numbers and advanced stats are meaningless! HAHAHA
Somewhere in the neighborhood of political polls perhaps?
I’m going to stick with football. Last game really opened my eyes. I am more upset with our coaching staff now than I have been since CMR left particularly on O. Yes there were some defensive breakdowns but you have to understand that players make mistakes and the other team has good players, too. No, I’m more concerned with bad coaching decisions that put the team behind the 8 ball early an what appeared to be the panic, particularly of our OC, when we got behind for the first time this season. Hard truth: Georgia was 6-0 going into the LSU game but who had we really beaten? 2cupcakes and the bottom teams in the SEC. First real game against a top caliber team look what happened. I hope this was just a bad game like the Senator and others are saying but based on how the team lost and the bad coaching decisions displayed during the game I’m afraid that what I saw last Saturday is the real 2018 Georgia Bulldogs.
Mayor, I agree with you. It was like 2017 never happened and the coaches came straight from the 2016 Vandy game. Just baffling how bad the coaching was. Kirby coached scared, though he’d never admit it.
So, is Florida or Kentucky at top caliber team? Or perhaps they are, but if we beat them they get Dawg graded. As for Auburn, they are definitely not top caliber.
A lot of Dawggrading happening this week.
I really thought Georgia missed opportunities to get Fields valuable reps against SC, Missouri, Vandy and Tennessee, especially from the pocket.
By this point in the season last year, Tua was 28-42 for 385 yards, 5 TDs and 1 pick.
Tua’s SEC stats by this point: 21-29, 321, 4 TDs, 1 pick, 9 rushes for 95 yards and 2 TDs. He would get 11 more pass attempts against Mercer. And then he showed up in the second half of the championship game.
Fields: 18-25, 200, 2 TDs, 0 picks. SEC stats: 5-9, 66 yards, 0, 0, 12 rushes for 72 yards, 3 TDs.
One huge potential problem for Kirby going forward: Fromm continues to struggle under pressure, but Fields doesn’t have any relevant game experience, making it difficult to bring him into tight situations.
The QB situation isn’t a cluster yet, but it’s 3 steps down that path, isn’t it?
I agree with getting Fields more reps. I fear the situation where Fromm struggles and then Fields comes in and lights it up, because then we really have a QB controversy on our hands. But that’s why Kirby gets all the millions he gets, to figure that out.
McElroy says Fields is a half step slow on his reads and maybe that’s true. But he sure could have figured that out against Sackerlina, Mizzou, and Vandy. Bringing him in for one play at a time to run essentially the Wild Dawg does no one any good.
Also, it seems odd Kirbs would coach scared considering he’s started a Fr at QB in a majority of the games he coached. Find a dozen plays Fields can run, rep him up and turn him loose. Fromm could probably handle being sat better than we think.
Perhaps Fields doesn’t have as good an understanding of the playbook as Fromm does, yet. And perhaps when down, and in obvious passing situations, having Fromm in opens up the playbook moreso than having Fields in.
Like I posted earlier the switch in QB coaches was not Kirby’s best idea. Fromm has apparently lost his ability to just throw the ball away before taking terrible sacks. He was more than willing last year. Chaney was able to take a freshman QB and get us the the Natty, the new QB coach has the freshman 5* incapable of running anything but the Wild Dawg. It’s time to get the QB coach thing straighten out. The only reason I can see for the switch was to keep Coley, a great recruiter happy.
I think you put your finger on the problem 69.
I’m not sure we can rush to any conclusions about who killed a dissident journalist inside a Saudi embassy and cut him up with a bone saw. Could be anyone. Could be a fat guy on a couch. Could be the Chinese. Could be aliens.
Let’s not rush to any judgments.
After all maybe he was an enemy of the people and deserved it. I’m looking at you CNN!
I’m not sure of his journalistic credentials but Kashoggi was not Joe Galloway. He was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and linked to Saudi Intelligence. His father was shady and so was he. This entire affair smacks of ulterior motive on the part Turkey. It’s all orchestrated for some nefarious purpose.
Bwa ha ha.
When was the last time anyone gave a shit about a murdered Saudi citizen? Call him a journalist and and the media loses its mind. The manipulation of the populace via the MSM seems designed to embarrass Saudi leadership. U.S. State Dept voices its outrage. High level meetings are held and concessions follow. For what true purpose? It’s not for justice for a murdered “journalist”. Bwa ha ha my ass.
He was educated at Indiana State in the early 1980’s and had been writing for the Washington Post while living in the US in exile.
Why not kill this guy? We should have done it ourselves.
Who would care if we chopped up Chuck Todd?
God, I know! Free press? Just lock ’em all up already! (Does that mean I can personally pistol-whip Sean Hannity if we do, or is it only SOME of the media that are evil and must be locked up?)
I think you know the answer to that. Certain people who claim the media is one sided and biased fail to see the irony that they get ALL their “news” from one source…but of course it’s not biased if they spoon feed them what they want to hear. But of course some of these same people will claim that they also get the “real” news from other sites. Those sites being other well known one sided echo chambers. It’s truly sad what this country has come to. And I say this as someone who thought both candidates were horrible and generally doesn’t support one side or the other.
I figured he deserved being killed and chopped up.
Its the really good thing about being summarily executed by powerful people. It turns out they were the real victim all along. Just ask them.
I say always trust the King’s motives when he asks “who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?” and the like.
I try not to think about how truly small, insignificant and cheap my life is to these cocksuckers. These Kings.
Yeah but you’re the one suckling their kingly cocks.
Despite your idiocy to the contrary, whatever he was he didn’t deserve to be murdered. No quarter should be given to any person or entity that shows a lack of any respect for human life whatsoever. This shouldn’t be a debatable point, but that’s where we are because of stupid.
Bullshit. Any other circumstance this asshole’s death would be celebrated. He was a classmate of Osama Bin Laden in the same madrassa in Saudi Arabia. He was an original member of the Muslim Brotherhood since 1970. That’s the original radical Islamofacist terrorist organization. This was one the bad guys who won’t be missed by decent folks.
Under what circumstances would it be celebrated?
Who else should be chopped up?
Derek,I haven’t resorted to insults and name calling and i won’t. I don’t understand why you would when I’m basically agreeing with you on our status as pawns to uncaring Kings. I would never insult you online or in person as i was raised right. You wouldn’t insult me in person but once. I am not someone with whom you’d want to fuck.
You just vote for people who insult right, horseface?
But a dude on a blog? Take that shit totally cereal. Because its about you.
Ranger, that was the most mature comment I’ve read in a while. It makes me ashamed of myself for having been drawn into the childish name calling that a few of our fellow posters specialize in. It’s tough not to retaliate when you give your honest opinion and someone calls you every name in the book. In the future I will try to follow your example when tempted to engage in the childish profanity gorged spats.
Nice “virtue signaling.”
Why do you dumbasses pearl clutch over a blog poster while electing a douchebag who insults everyone who challenges him? You’re not only stupid, you’re hypocritically so.
Good job buying the Saudi cover story. https://www.newsweek.com/saudi-media-claims-jamal-khashoggi-fiance-fake-linked-qatar-1165146
Its a PR machine that made folks like you forget that all but 1 of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudi.
Way to sort this through.
I didn’t read that shit. I got my information from a buddy whose job is to know these things. The best propaganda is based on truth. I’m not immune to being suckered in. I thought I was gonna fight for God,freedom and the American way when in reality I could’ve been smokin’ dope, listening to Mick Jagger and bad mouthing the President with the dirty gotdam hippies. Would’ve learned the truth the easy way.
Sure it is: https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/anti-semitic-propaganda.html
Try cynicism and reading. It can be a healthy combination.
Must get back to work. We should have a cold beer at Richard’s one day. I’m sure you’re nicer in person than online.
RangerRuss, I personally am absolutely through with people who think civility should be expected when the asshole in the Oval Office does everything he can to inflame and insult absolutely everyone. You want civility, vote that corrupt, racist, sexist, wannabe dictator out and replace him with a human. Of any party. So I get where Derek is on “civility.”
Clicked on that link briefly. That’s some truly hateful shit. I know anecdotes are boring and indicative of a selfish ego but here ya go anyhow. 1980 at Jump school some yankee troopers are talking to me about Heebs and the Tribe and such shit. I’d never heard anything like that. I gather they assumed since i had a Southern accent i was stupid and a bigot. I explained to them the only Jews i knew were Jesus and my brother in law. What’s my point? I don’t know. Maybe it’s that you’re a fuckn’ asshole for knowing a site such as that exists.
There’s LOTS of reasons I’m an asshole but all I did was do a google image search. Not hard.
Gastr1, you have quite a liberal view of what justifies Derek’s psychotic rage. Especially since Trump’s offenses are mainly matters of etiquette. Personally, I take more offenses to the issues of other administrations, like secret kill lists of US citizens.
Just dropped in on this international diplomatic horseshit and will offer some comments: This is a Saudi/Turk situation…we should butt out of any political action/comment. Think if Saudis or anyone else offered to get involved in Ferguson/Detroit/Charlottesville situations…we’d be more than pissed at international interference with domestic issues. Spent over thirty years in intelligence, mainly Middle East, and can tell you we have no dog in this fight and can only lose in many situations. This is a football..mainly Dawg…blog so write CNN/FOX/AJC on these subjects and stay the f*** off GTP!!!
Mr. Mercer, this is the Playpen or more correctly the Pigpen. its function is to provide a place to air grievances that don’t belong in the football sections. If you don’t want to get muddy don’t crawl in with us pigs. I do disagree with gastr 1 that we can’t be civil. That’s beneath me.
First, dumbass, this is the playpen.
Second, obviously you don’t need to be intelligent to make it a career.
Third, allow a President I didn’t agree with a whole lot retort: http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=35894
We used to try to stand for things and we agreed on those things worth defending recognizing that the security of a government of the people by the people is threatened by those who have no such values and likewise is secured by having countries with who those values are shared. It was never and is never in our interest to be an island of freedom on a planet of tyranny, dumb fuck.
Fourth, for the voters out there: “You cannot be a good citizen, if you are not first a good person.” Teddy Roosevelt.
If you aren’t a good citizen you probably ought not be in public life.
Repeat and return to #1 until you are no longer an idiot.
Umm. Might want to check out the rules, or explicit lack of them, concerning this particular weekly thread…and thanks for the apples to kiwi fruits comparison. It must have really teed you off having to work for Clinton and Obama after those sweet years of Reagan and the Bushes. Honestly I’m glad that you’re retired with such halfassed analysis.
You have to understand that Derek is an imperialist. Anybody, anywhere that isn’t living up to the mythology of ‘Murica should be subject to sanctions, bombing, or outright invasion and perpetual war. ‘Cause freedom!
So, if a Saudi citizen living in the US is murdered in Turkey by Saudis, it’s obviously our problem and we should be prepared to go to war over it. Because war is good and killing brown people in foreign lands is what this country is all about, godammit!
Some of us did both my brother!
Let me guess. You got this info from Fox, Hannity, or Brietbart right? Or one of the other “real news” sites you guys love. I’m sure they have lots of video and articles with small words so their followers don’t have to hurt their brains by thinking for themselves. Or do you prefer the safe embrace of likeminded circle jerks on various partisan sites?
You can always tell when someone wasn’t raised right.
And you can always tell someone doesn’t have an argument when they can’t even deny something. And my family raised me to think that human life is valuable and that torturing and killing someone because they don’t agree with you, or really at all, is a bad thing. It’s funny how the same people who cry themselves to sleep over “all them babies kids keeled uvery day!” don’t really seem to care about the lives of actual humans.
It’s cool though. Trump has given his marching orders so time to once again ignore and fall in line for his blackshirts.
Well bless your heart.
Defending abortion while proclaiming the value of life is the best example of cognitive dissonance I’ve seen today. Congrats!
Supposedly the Turks have audio and video of the whole thing. Wonder when (or if) everyone gets a look-see.
You’re the one cheering on authoritarianism, Derek. You just want your guy in charge. If Trump is the king, it’s bad. If Hillary is the queen, it’s all good. But don’t start talking nonsense about how power should rest with the people and executives should just be administrators. That’s dangerous thinking. We should probably pass a law forbidding such thoughts from being expressed.
Umm. I hate to tell you man but the only ones calling the press traitors and implying that they should be censored(except Fox and its ilk) are Trump and his supporters. You seem to lean libertarian. Is not having a free press part of the no intervention by the government platform now?
Oh. And as far as abortion goes I don’t give a crap. Not defending it. I prefer to not knock up women who I don’t want to have kids with. Maybe those hardcore family values/God fearing evangelicals should worry less about other people and more about keeping their own daughters from getting knocked up because we all know they do. Used to be the girl just went on an unexplained “vacation” for 9 months and it was never spoken of again.
Cognitive Dissonance is the perfect word for people who claim to be all about the sanctity of life yet only when it suits them. Unborn life is sacred but the lives of so-called brown people don’t matter actually in the world don’t matter. But hey, if you want to align yourself with people who claim to want to get rid of big government except for when it protects their guns or to use it to stop others from doing anything they don’t agree with.
Makes sense. Now I’m going to drink a 12 pack while I write my congressman to make sure those damn hippies can’t smoke weed and let him know that the big government I claim to not want needs to do something about abortion, immigration, and maintaining infrastructure that I use to get to the liquor store and to get my scratchers lol.
Censorship? Censorship is a tool of the left. Remember the last president (most transparent in history) who used the FBI to spy on reporters and used the Espionage Act to prosecute whistleblowers more than all other presidents combined? Don’t confuse the difference between actions like those and empty gestures like tweeting about fake news.
Actually, I’m logically consistent about life. I don’t want unborn babies killed and I don’t want citizens of far off lands killed, either. That’s why I’m against the perpetual wars of the last five administrations as well as against women killing their children.
Your argument for government is “Muh roads?” Seriously? Give me a break. Private companies can build roads. And they can do it without billions of dollars of cost overruns. Try thinking outside the box instead of cheering the people piling debt on your head by force as long as they hurt entrepreneurs worse than they hurt you.
Let me guess. Reading Atlas Shrugged changed your life? But of course anytime someone narcissist comes up with a new philosophy on government or lack thereof it usually works out great right? That’s why communism, absolute monarchies, dictatorships, and so many others have worked out great for everyone.
Of course none of those were thought up by a disillusioned soviet refugee, who was a sociopath, a bad writer, and a hypocrite; you are aware that she lived on SS and Medicare in her later years right? She was basically a less intelligent and more selfish Marx. And yes I know they were philosophically different but both were narcissistic refugees who were essentially failures at life and both had their ideas coopted by others for their own ends..because human nature.
For the record I don’t particularly care for either side or our government. But I am a student of history and outside of your Gandhis and MLKs most crackpots who think they have the solution to all problems don’t live in the real world. The same one where if everything boiled down to just money the big companies that you want to build our roads would be more than happy to take over as long as it lines their pockets. Keep dreaming though and if you ever get injured or sick I hope the all powerful market will be there to keep you from going bankrupt.
Apes can read philosophy, they just don’t understand it:
I read Atlas Shrugged. It wasn’t bad. Primarily, I’m just a Christian pragmatist. So I think initiating aggression against other people is bad. And even if it weren’t, it doesn’t really work to achieve the ends that the violent folks like Derek claim will be accomplished.
As you yourself admit, it makes no sense to equate the philosophies of Marx and Rand. They were very different. But other than those extreme differences, they were the same. Good point.
For what it’s worth, I don’t worship the market. I don’t claim that it doesn’t need adjustments from time to time. I just think that the adjustments should be accomplished voluntarily by people with skin in the game, rather than elites who believe that they’re smarter than everyone else put together, which gives them a moral excuse to step in and stop voluntary action.
So I will keep dreaming of a day when people can interact with each other voluntarily. Of a day when Big Brother doesn’t step in “for their own good” with the lame excuses of helping them out. You can keep dreaming of a day when government violence and coercion is all justified when you can collect a nice check from your benevolent overlords. Personally, I think even benefitting from immoral actions doesn’t make then moral.
The Castros have murdered more people than were at the game Saturday..and Obama kissed their asses.
Hillary did more business with Putin and Russia..who have murdered more people than all of the fans at every football game Saturday combined, and Hillary Clinton got rich selling them our uranium.
Screw the hypocritical left.
People are seeing right through their crooked bullshit.
You do realize that Hilary and Obama aren’t president right? I get that Trump has an inferiority complex about them but why are his followers so angry? You got your wish…he’s president. If you’re really so proud of him then why is your first reaction always Hilary this and Obama that? And wasn’t Bush pretty close with the Saudis too? Which president hasn’t been?
Whataboutism is all they got. They don’t stand for anything expect saying “who cares if we suck if other people suck(ed) too.”
Its a hell of a value system in that it ain’t.
All it’s good for is putting Hillary worshipers in their place. So it is kind of fun.
That’s a whole lot of stupid right there.
So what did the left do with Castro at the time that they were killing people? I mean other than the embargo, ejecting the soviet missiles and saving the world from nuclear holocaust in the fall of 1962?
The only thing the left refused to do was a full scale invasion of the island. That idea, from the right, was necessitated by what and who?
Who was in office when Castro took over Cuba in 1959? Was it the left?
Who let Cuba get so bad that it’s people accepted a communist revolution? Who helped foster Batista? Was it the left?
The truth of the matter is that the US has had an uneven relationship with human rights and dictators since WWII. However, it would be difficult (stupid?) to argue that the left has coddled/emboldened/funded more murderous dictators or overlooked more human rights abuses than the left over that time.
The tension between the left and the right has been the degree to which popular leftist sentiment can be tolerated and/or to what degree it should be snuffed out. The right has consistently looked to strongmen to eliminate leftists threats while the left has suggested that hasn’t served our long term interests to coddle right wing dictators. What was agreed by both sides was that a world where these difficult choices had to me made was neither acceptable nor unavoidable. We just had to get rid of the USSR first before we could get too aggressive in the spread of liberal democracy that respects human rights.
What’s new is that the suggestion that our values, often poorly applied on both sides, no longer matter to the country at all.
In short, this isn’t a right/left debate. They’ve always agreed on the generalities if not the specifics. Its a USA vs. Trump debate.
There is simply no historical example on either side of an American leader saying “so what?” when it comes to human rights abuses.
We have that now. Congrats.
“There is simply no historical example on either side of an American leader saying “so what?” when it comes to human rights abuses.”
Stupid never disappoints.
So do you enjoy your gay porn movie a lot? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/thinking-man/how-did-top-gun-become-so-gay/
Typically cogent analysis from Derek.
I like advanced stats because it takes out emotions from the analytics. Emotionally the Dawgnation is in panic/despair/frustration mode and that leads to knee jerk catastrophizing. It is a game where metrics matter, and the ebb and flow of the game has great affect despite what the numbers suggested outside of the 60 minutes. There were places on Saturday where we looked as the metrics suggested. We knew we were bend but not break on defense. The problem with that is that sometimes , when pushed, the bending/keep everything in front of you switches to be more aggressive when down and that results in breaking. One player failing to set the edge, another missing gap control, another overrunning the play, bad angles…all those things can still happen regardless of advanced stats. All things considered, those are plays that result in back breaking results. There is not a metric for boneheaded decision making, and the fake kick deflated the entire half. There was hope through the third quarter, and even into the fourth. A bad first half killed us then we gambled a few plays late and big plays ensued. Take away a few bad angles and plays and it could be a different outcome. I dont see leadership and momentum as metrics, but those two things stood out to me on Saturday. Given the emotionality of youth those two factors loomed large on us in BR and that negated a lot of the advanced stats. If the game flow isn’t compromised by those things, I still feel.confident we would have handled LSU easily.
The advanced stats said we had zero problems heading to Red Stick last week, even those anyone with eyes could see we started slow, we were soft up the middle, and had problems maintaining containment.
I’m all jacked up on Mountain Dew.
General view is that Fromm had the worst game of his short career in SEC play.
But was it not also the worst damn play calling and use of offensive players by the pass happy crappy Chaney.
Forget Fields. What does “expand” the role of Fields in the over and done game. Means as much as Brewers manager Council wanting to expand the zone on Bellinger when all he needed to do was shift his second baseman over and deeper. “Expand” is a no meaning freaking word, and we are damn tired of sports people using it!
I have posted that the Gators actually have the best RBs in SEC East.
But on Saturday was probably the best running that Swift and Holyfield did all season. Holyfield had a Walker /Bill Bates moment, he pan caked 22.
Chaney when you have that much depth and resources on offense feed your running game dummy!. Swift may have been slowed somewhat due to injury, but he could play. Same with Herron.
Chaney dumb ass fake field goal took an automatic 3 points of the board.
Here is the math boy. 3 is just under 50% of seven, coupled with that 2 point try so early in the game.
Work on that blocking and getting the gaps open this week for you running back and rotation on your oline.
Pound, pound, pound the dline and the rock.
Punting is mind and technique. Get your metro Atlanta punter enrolled in kicking, or go find a punter in your recruiting class because this dude is very unproductive!
Stop wasting your FG kicker re points, and start that running game going!
Stop all this “expand” the role of your QBs…neither of which or your receivers are even 2nd round draft picks or ranked high in the SEC.
Smart is enabling Chaney….you sure do bitch a lot, Mr. Will “Can’t Stop A” Trane.
Yeah, but I can’t disagree with anything he said in this post. Simplify the game, feed the rock to Holyfield and Swift (in that order, Holyfield has earned it), and let Fields run complete series, not just one play at a time. That will benefit the passing game as well.
Okay, I don’t agree that FL has the best RBs in the SEC. I don’t think anyone has better RBs than we do. Let’s just hope we use them.
I wouldn’t trade Georgia’s running backs for Florida’s.
This is is a “playpen”…..put on your play face, loosen up.
Will Georgia Tech fire Johnson and hire Mike Bobo? Who knows, but the Johnson era is over at Tech.
Will Jeremy Pruitt and all those Bama coaches on his Vol staff leave after one year and go back to Bama, the state, and start running the Auburn team.
Gus is gone, too.
Who will the Braves hire as a new pitching coach.
Coach who do not perform should move on.
Will Smart look for a new OC after this year.
Keep it up Chaney and you may rotate out, too.
Will, I don’t sense the same rhythm of your earlier posts in this. I need more staccato, more “bite”.
1) No, going back to Pepper Rogers.
2) Yes, Phat Fulmer fires’em all and he and Peyton run the show. Johnny Majors takes over as AD.
3) Yes, Lane Kiffin and Bo take over. Bo Knows Football.
4) Yes, Leo Mazzone comes back….less the rocking back and forth.
5) Yes, Dawgs pay Bobo 3 mil to come home, Smart fetches the Powerade for him. Smart new D.C.
6) Fat Boy is gone, Bobo has dual role as HC & OC….Dawgs 15 & 0 FWIS.
LOL, there goes the OL recruiting.
Will Smart look for a new OC after this year.
No… unless Mike Bobo leaves CSU and Coley takes a job elsewhere.
On Spotify there is a playlist named Ballad of Larry Munson. Anyone know if there’s a story? Has some southern rock, but no obvious connections I can make
IDK, but it looks pretty good. I’m guessing some dude from the 70’s put that together (or his kid).
Yeah. Maybe just a Dawg fan with good classic rock taste?
Cassic rock? SFTD maybe. You probably think Taylor Swift is country.
Well. Some are classic southern rock I guess but I’m pretty sure most would not classify the Stones, Rod Stewart, or America as such. JMO though.
Smart now says he wants to see Swift and Holyfield get more carries. So we’re really doing this now and damn does it feel familiar. It’s getting harder not to wonder what his involvement in the offense is.
What’s really discouraging is that this had been our offense ALL year and Kirby still parrots the physicality and impose our will motivational quotes. It would be one thing if we weren’t capable or hadn’t shown flashes of it all freaking season. Is he the HC still trying to be a DC? It’s getting difficult to argue that he isn’t.
I don’t see how anyone can say he isn’t the DC. When the defense huddles, it sure isn’t Tucker in the middle of the scrum yelling at/coaching up the players.
Although, I do like it when Kirby lights into the headset when the team is on offense. He’s reaming someone out. He didn’t do enough of it on Saturday, though.
Hell..the most predictable thing in the world is that a coach will over react and overplay his hand by trying to play the next game the way he didn’t play the last loss.
Kirby should talk less. There’s no reason to talk about your next game plan in public.
Florida will be schemed and hot to stop HF and Swift.
I’d personally be using the hell out of Fields. Line him up on the edge, playfake to tailback and pitch it to him coming around on a rpo sweep. Next play he goes shotgun with QB draw..next play he gets under center with Fromm and Swift behind him..stands up and hits TE over middle. Or he fakes dive and does a little counter…Just ideas..but when you have Fields on the field..anywhere…it screws with the defense’s minds and ups the chances of them making a big mistake.
I tend to agree. I love Kirby but I’ve really never liked listening to ANY head coach after a bad loss. Especially one who really hates having to deal with the press like Kirby or Saban. Nothing but coachspeak and “in the arena” or “couch QB” talk. And more “we’re just going to keep on working hard” crap.
You mentioned the QB draw: I had been thinking a couple of weeks ago that it’s a play you don’t really see that much anymore. I have Clemson friends and remember seeing Woody Dantzler and a lot of mobile guys running it back then. Can a better football mind than mine explain if it has just gone out of fashion or something else?
At his press conference he was cheered when he said he’d have a hand in every aspect of the program. IT’S ALL KIRBY’S FAULT. (and credit)
Stoop, it’s very simple. We win, he’s a genius. We lose, he’s an idiot. This week he’s an idiot. He should have run Holyfield and Swift more.
Okay, just in case I get busy and don’t get back to this thread…
Everybody here sucks except me and the Senator. And I’m starting to wonder about the Senator.
There, that should hold me for now.
NO! YOU SUCK! Forced me to use a cheesy screen name because i have no imagination.
“And I’m starting to wonder about the Senator.” That made me LMFAO. I don’t know why. Easily amused I reckon.
FWIW, I’m not so sure about myself, either. 😉
You read the playpen? When you could have just banned Derek?! Shameless…
P.S. I was not reading this…just driving by.
P.P.S. If this calls out Derek, then let me be clear…I’ll vote for anyone that makes him this angry all the time. #winning
I’ll help you out with Derek. Us real Americans now control the House, Senate, President, Supreme Court and most state governorships. Come on Derek, join the winners. KEEP America Great!
And you got less votes in 6 of the last 7 presidential elections.
Seems there’s a problem or at least a disconnect between the voters and their representatives.
Read the Constitution if you can understand the big words. Popular vote does not decide the victor. But you probably think you know more about the Constitution than the founding fathers.
The house is decided by the electoral college right stupid?
So you’re mad because Republicans win both popular vote elections for House and Senate and electoral college elections for President? What do you propose to install Democrats, drawing names out of a hat? Poor baby.
FWIW: I knew the Obama Derangement was coming, but y’all even surprised me.
You going with Andrew Dice Clay in 2024?
To be fair, I believe ODS was simply a virus transmitted from you Bush Deranged Syndrome types. Very contagious. So now I think it has come down to the old nuclear strategy…Mutually Assured Destruction. For every fundraising appearance by Pelosi, every Bernie on the ballot, every Castro brothers marketed as saviors from a Red State, I’ll go with whatever makes you MADest. Now, if you could put someone up from the middle with both public and private sector experience, I might join you.
You didn’t really think HIllary was a good idea, did you? Good luck with Pocahontas in 2020. I’m sending a Cruz missile your way…just because. you be MAD. #boom
No one asked me.
Ginger or Mary Ann?
Mary Ann! Now this one, WKRP, Jennifer or Bailey?
Both….& bring Ginger & Mary Ann
They’re all older than me and I have enough trouble taking care of myself.
I have settled on the opinion that it’s Ginger, and it ain’t even close (don’t get me wrong, I see the merits of Mary Ann).
I met Bob Denver one time. His exact words: “Trust me dude, Mary Ann by a mile.”
We need an OC with a clue. We have a massive line and really good backs, and aren’t using them. No threat of the RPO with Fromm now that Fields is there. The offense is inconsistently called. The TEs are overlooked. Weapons are being ignored and used poorly. Please, get Chaney out at the end of the season and get a coach that understands how to game plan and use the weapons he is given.
In the past decade we’ve certainly fallen flat on our faces in many big games, but when is the last time we really exceeded expectations in a game that we weren’t supposed to win? Florida 07? Does Tech 09 count?
How about the Rose Bowl?
Eh, I expected to win that game. I guess you could say we exceeded expectations in the second half.
Shit, man, the way you’re playing this game, you’re the only one that can answer your question.
It’s not so much a game as it is an effort to make the point that Georgia doesn’t really exceed expectations, at least not on a game by game basis. I don’t think many people expected us to make the playoff last season, but if you go back and look at each game we played none of our victories were real shockers.
I’ll somewhat agree with you, but I think that’s because Richt and Kirby have raised the overall perception of Georgia football. Vince used to win 1 or 2 games that he wasn’t supposed to win because he was a conservative coach and made good halftime adjustments. But it was also because Georgia wasn’t flashy and people would say we “shouldn’t win that game”.
To your list, I’d add 2006 Auburn game and 2016 Auburn game. Both games we shouldn’t have won, but did. In the 2006 case, resoundingly.
Yeah, Trae Battle had himself a day.
How bout Notre Dame last year? I’m not saying it’s a huge upset, but our team really stepped up on the road with a very young QB and won.
I could get on board with that.
The SEC Championship game last year.
I fully expected to win that game after I saw Kerryon go down against Bama.
You might have but the majority didn’t. Most of the media expected Auburn to win. Most fans did too, seeing as how Auburn was a 3 point favorite. And Auburn was ranked #2, while we were #6.
And we won by 3 touchdowns. I’d say that qualifies as really exceeding expectations in a game we weren’t supposed to win.
I understand what you’re saying , but the pregame analysis was puzzling to me at the time which is why a gladly paid $250 to sit in the Auburn section. Either way, nobody was stopping the presses when we won. Even the ones picking against us weren’t shocked by the victory.
SCAR this year. WE BEAT SANDSTORM!!!! Cannon shots!!! We’re so damn young!!!
Tennessee fans pissed because the Vols didn’t crack the top 20 after their huge win.
When in trouble, when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout.
We’re doomed I tell ya’!!!!
that’s just,like, your opinion man
THE GD PLANE HAS FLOWN INTO THE GD MOUNTAIN. WHAT DO YOU MEAN NOTHING IS FUCKED HERE?
Awesome. I’ll get you a toe. A little gator toe.
On a totally different note, this is the best thing I’ve read today… by far.
A voice like a chainsaw.
I went to the Stone Pony a couple of times. Wasn’t it down near Riverdale or College Park? 😉
Cool article, thanks for posting it.
These things make me feel a little better about the fake FG. Stupid can get even worse…
Easy there. Trump and Foxnews haven’t weighed in on those issues yet so his acolytes are unsure but thinking it’s better to be safe than sorry so they’re leaning towards Fake News. I mean look at the websites. They lack the Trump approval certificate..can see it’s missing right on the browser.
Lol. I just realized how to make my fortune if someone hasn’t already done it. Develop a browser addon that automatically filters out all non Trump approved content and has a big picture of the Prez giving the thumbs up on any Fox, Breitbart, Hannity, or alt right looney affiliated websites. Then I could add a paid patch that includes a big word translator and video instruction on how to properly plug up ones ears and whistle when confronted in the real world by Trump’s daily idiocy, lies, and hypocrisy. Hell. I could even add a feature to automatically correct words to their proper use and spelling. No more having to read big or huge when those pesky words can automatically be turned into the real words of biggly and yugely.
I need to flesh this out but I will definitely get the very best people to work on it since everyone really likes and respects me. Maybe I should add an application for the Space Force too? Space is really big after all. Only stands to reason that aliens would love Trump and want to make deals with him.
How stupid do you have to be to think the earth is flat?
And there’s a convention of them?
It just takes my misanthropy to a whole new level of hatred.
I’d be willing to bet that emperor flatulentdick is one of these people.
People who have boring lives clutching for something I guess. It astounds me in particular when it’s a government related one such as the earth being flat or moon landing being fake. Despite all evidence to the contrary we’re supposed to believe that the government, and by extension the 10s of millions who have worked at NASA, the contractors they use, and all of their friends and family members are just WAY better at keeping secrets than anyone else on earth. Hell the first astronauts were mostly hard living test pilots. Not one of them ever got drunk and told a wife, kid, or buddy that the earth was really flat and the government has been lying this whole time?
I guess those people don’t ever use GPS because well…satellites? And the fact that we aren’t the only country to go to space? I’m sure the Soviets and us agreed to perpetuate this myth. Lol.
My favorite comment about the moon landing being faked came from Apollo 16 moonwalker, Charlie Duke; “We went to the moon 9 times. If we were going to fake it, why did we fake it 9 times?”
And my favorite action was taken by Buzz Aldrin:
Whoever said violence doesn’t solve anything?
Nobody likes or respects you.
It saddens me greatly. All my efforts to make friends….
You’re a fucking moron.
Maybe you could include a virtual safe space for liberals who are triggered by the notion that alternative viewpoints exist in media. Perhaps you could randomly insert “Nazi,” “fascist,” and “racism” into sentences, making them nonsensical. The demand is yuge, I tell you.
I am looking to hook up a tv for tailgates- nothing too fancy just want to be able to watch a few games while I have some beers. I have a 40” tv but don’t have anything else .
Can anyone recommend a specific setup to get? I don’t want to deal with a generator but maybe a marine battery or something similar with no noIse. Also don’t want to spend a ton of money as I may use it just 2-3 times per year.
Any advice is appreciated-
You’re going to need an invert to convert the 12 VOLT to 110V to power the TV to start. And a way to get a signal to the TV, antenna, smart phone, cable line, dish, etc……..that’s a start.
inverter, not invert.
I was thinking about just getting an HD antenna of they work well
I would buy a decent HD Yagi antenna and mount it on magnet or piece of plywood or something similar so you can stick it on your hood or roof of your vehicle. They run about $50 at Wal-Mart for the RCA brand. I use one for my TV at home, and it works great. The small powered ones that are made to hide behind your TV are ok, but not as good as the yagi, which you don’t need to power with a booster. There are websites that you can input the zip code of where you are at and it will show what direction to point the antenna at for the station you want – important since a yagi is very directional.
I’m curious. I’ve been slowly cutting the cord by having all smart TVs but games can still be a bitch sometimes, particularly the CBS ones. I don’t want to have to get up on my roof and have seen HD antennas that claim to be able to get a signal indoors. Does anyone know if they actually work? I haven’t really kept up with antennas and such over the years.
In my experience, indoor HD antenna’s don’t work well. I have tried a few and even though I live close to the signal, I experienced very intermittent signal reception – great one day, gone the next.I don’t think the signal travels well through walls. I now have an exterior Yagi and it works fine. I very rarely have any issues.
Yeah. That’s kinda what I figured. Can’t believe anything you read on a box these days. Seemed too good to be true since they weren’t that expensive. Thanks.
To be clear, I have an indoor antenna that is near a window that runs to a small TV in my kitchen, and it works OK. I normally have signal. When I have tried it and other antennas on my living room TV, which is blocked from a clear shot, they don’t work on some days, and some days they work great. Too hit and miss.
You think I will be good for a CBS game in Covington with the Yagi?
I checked this website https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps and Covington does not look so great. CBS has a very weak signal there – only shows out of Macon for some reason. If you will be camping and are surrounded by trees I doubt you could get much reception at all.
Thanks, dude. I have not been able to check out any of links yet that posted here due to work.
Good grief, I hope I don’t have to drop this kid off at the camp out and head to a bar somewhere.
If you’re in Atlanta, you’re fine. Out in Athens, probably not. The following website can give you an estimate of what channels you can pick up at a street address.
How long do you want you setup to operate at at time? What is the power draw (i.e. watts) of the TV you want to run? What else would you like to power at your tailgate? What is your home set up like for if the power goes out? What is your upper level budget?
Power the tv for 4-5 hours. It’s an older flat screen 37” I am not sure of the specs… don’t really need anything else to power up at tailgate .This would be for smaller get togethers.
If the power goes out at home, I have no plan.
I’d def like to keep it under $500.
Honestly, I’m supposed to take my kid camping Ga/Fl weekend and I’m not missing that game. So, I’d like to have a setup to watch game. Also will be used in Athens for auburn game and SECC if we make it.
With that budget and not intending to be a pro tailgator, I’d rent a generator. You’ll be able to do more at the campsite and be well under budget.
I just tested an older 42″ I have in my bedroom and it draws ~180W. You can use a simple $20 device like this to check power usage of your appliances. https://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Electricity-Usage-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU/
At 180W, 5 hours would draw 75 amp hours from battery (plus conversion loss). So any battery (or 2 or more batteries in parallel) with 75 amp-hours of capacity should work, but batteries that are drawn down to 50% capacity will have a life space twice that of those drawn down to 20%. You can get a 100AH battery and a 350W inverter for about $200 total. Using a TV that draws even lower power levels would allow you to use a smaller / cheaper battery.
Now would be a good time to develop a plan for a loss of power at home. You will want to at least be able to run your refrigerator / freezer a few times per day, charge phones / tablets, etc. If you get the $20 kill-a-watt above, you can measure the power draw of the devices you want to use. You can then get a suitably sized battery, charge controller, inverter, and solar panel that could meet your emergency home power needs.
While I would recommend a generator and a bottle of fuel stabilizer for you home, for a little under $500 you could get a 100AH battery:
Foldable 100W solar panel w/ 10A charge controller
A 1500W inverter
and the kill-a-watt above. Those items could run a tailgate all day or get you through a several day long power outage at home.
The cheap way out for the Florida game while camping is to get a $30 300W inverter
and a <$30 flat TV antenna like any of the Mohu Leaf knockoffs
Plug the inverter into the car (make sure it is line with a 30A fuse or get an inverter than attaches to the battery), bring and extension chord, and let the engine idle while you watch the game.
Wow, thank you.
I appreciate you spending time on this and all the other folks who responded.
Another option would be a laptop, computer monitor and a wifi hot spot (using cell coverage). You could get ESPN games, Fox Sports, and CBS Sports. If you had one of the streaming TV services, you could get ABC and NBC.
A laptop on a large battery powering a 32″ monitor could probably last 3-4 hours.
DGD Herschel Walker calls out racists!
I remember when inviting Common to the WH resulted in an outcry from the right. You can always count on consistency in their hypocrisy.
Not sure there’s an out of bounds name for someone who says:
“When you hear about slavery for 400 years … For 400 years? That sounds like a choice.”
Anything said about that guy is excusable.
Of course, 3-time UGA All-Americans can say whatever the fuck they want too. Its a rule.
Herschel knows what time it is.
Time to leave that Democrat plantation for a better life!
Its so not racist to declare that well over 90% of black Americans don’t know what’s best for them.
Maybe they just listen and realize that people that say things like “Mexican rapists” and “both sides” aren’t the types of folks who are looking out for them but rather are neo-nazi sympathizers.
It’s like a doomsday scenario for you, ain’t it?
Black men and women thinking for themselves instead of just eating the spoon-fed trope of “Orange Man Bad”.
You’re stupid so you’re missing the point.
Why did well over 90% of African-Americans vote against Trump?
Is it because they are stupid or because they are smart?
Orange man reducing minority unemployment, reducing economic disparity, reforming drug sentencing.
Black and White Americans alike woke to the reality that liberals just kept ’em stuck waiting for the monthly check, helpless.
A populist orange man, making decisions that favor the working class, limiting foreign competition and opening up to them their piece of the American pie.
It keeps leftists awake at night, shuddering at an upwardly mobile society when all they have to offer is pittance payments of subsistence living.
They squall and roil like a bee after using its only sting, writhing around knowing death awaits.
They chant Orange Man Bad, but they know the bell tolls for them. The end is near.
No handouts here.
They can only vilify Orange Man and shout names, because they have no solution or path forward for the forgotten American men and women.
But when your life gets better and you know it, the yelling and name-calling have no power. It no longer rings in the ear.
Orange Man is growing in popularity every day because he delivers to free people what the leftist plantation owners have only promised for decades.
Racial harmony is achieved when two free men of equal quality sit down, shake hands and drink freely together, not when pitted against each other to fight over scraps in squalor.
The Orange Man delivers freedom and prosperity where He of the Big Ears and Bigger Ego produced only strife, rioting and disillusionment.
Wow, TN Dawg, those are the most brilliant comments I have ever read. I can see Derek and illinidawg now, lying on the floor in the fetal position, crying like pussies. Good job, my man. You ought to seriously think of entering politics. We need a good man like you in 2024.
Stupid likes stupid.
No surprise here.
Hey Mr badass, I still want to know what the fuck you are talking about when you called me a liar?
Bring it asshole.
“Orange Man is growing in popularity every day because he delivers to free people what the leftist plantation owners have only promised for decades.”
Jesus that is hilarious.
By all accounts, a very successful Playpen.
