I’d say it’s not unreasonable for him to think that way. I just hope he’s wrong. I think we’re going to find out whether or not Georgia is a talented team that simply got caught underestimating an opponent down in Baton Rouge or a talented group of individuals that hasn’t yet come together as a team. My inner Munson fears the latter.

Applying results from 15 years ago to predict an upcoming game is unreasonable. Georgia needs to blow Florida out again to get rid of this PTSD everyone suffers from with this game.

That’s it Biggus..a lot of us have WLOCP PTSD..I do. and I’m looking for the cure. A beat down of Florida would certainly help.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think the beat down will come, even though I do expect Georgia to win a fairly tight game. Not that I’ll complain if it’s a repeat of the MSU game last year.

If Florida wins Saturday they will be on their way to the SEC championship game and Mullen will be on his way to SEC coach of the year after Florida went 4-7 last year. But we’ll still have a lot more 4 and 5 star recruits! There’s your hot take (mess).

Fortunately none of the kids playing this weekend have the ridiculous mental complex around this game, mostly attributed to 2002, 2003, and 2005, that this c/o 2004 Dawg has.

Exactly right. This is more of a UGA fan weakness, and mostly among the weaker ones—-ones who have allowed FU fans to impose their wills on them. You have to be weak to let them twist the numbers the one way it favors them. Crazy. FU may win on Saturday, but it won’t be because of anyone specific slice of manipulated numbers, any more than UGA will win because of the past.

Two new teams, getting it on under neutral circumstances. All else is BS.

There are certainly cases to be made that Florida will win on Saturday, but “Dan Mullen was on the coaching staff of a Florida team that squeaked by a Georgia team starting its backup QB more than a decade ago” ain’t one of them.

The author, Matt Zemek, is living in 2005. This article and his hotmail email address confirm it.

Matt Zemek is often a good writer (I used to enjoy his columns at College Football News a few years ago), but since he knows a lot about college football history, he tends to commit the fault of overthinking and straining to make connections that aren’t there. The 2018 versions of Georgia and Florida will determine the result of the 2018 game, not the 2002-2005 series history. Nobody in his right mind was saying in 1994 or 1995 that we would ruin Florida’s dreams because we had done so in 1980-83 and 1985.

“It is true that in 2005, Georgia was a much better team under quarterback D.J. Shockley than under backup Joe Tereshinski.”

LOL, at least he made mention of it, even if he does seem to shrug it off as an afterthought.
