Impressive work, Gus.
A Malzahn offense hasn’t scored beyond the first quarter against Georgia in the Bulldogs’ home state since 2009. That’s a stretch of four games and during that time Malzahn’s offense has been downright befuddling to watch against the Bulldogs in Samford Stadium and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Georgia has held Malzahn’s offense to three of the 10 worst offensive outputs in his 13 years as a college coach.
Really? Tell us more.
Gus Malzahn’s worst offensive outputs
1. 117 yards vs. Clemson (Sept. 9, 2017)
2. 140 yards vs. Alabama (Nov. 26, 2011)
3. 164 yards vs. Georgia (Nov. 12, 2016)
4. 182 yards vs. Alabama (Nov. 26, 2016)
5. 193 yards vs. LSU (Oct. 24, 2009)
6. 195 yards vs. Georgia (Nov. 12, 2011)
7. 225 yards vs. Arkansas (Sept. 23, 2018)
8. 248 yards vs. LSU (Oct. 22, 2011)
9. 256 yards vs. Mississippi State (Nov. 18, 2015)
10. 259 yards vs. Georgia (Dec. 2, 2017)
Have no fear. Gus is a first-rate mechanic. He knows exactly what needs to be done to fix things.
“We’ve got to correct that,” Malzahn said. “We’ve got to do a better job, no doubt. They’re always a talented team. They’re always going to be one of the most talent-based teams in our league. When you go there, that’s a tough place to play, but we need to switch that up and we need to play well.”
Sounds like a plan, buster.

What’s really weird is that in the linked article Sanford is spelled correctly, so how does the Senator’s cut & paste change it?

Occam’s razor would suggest someone caught the mistake subsequent to my post and corrected it.

Isn’t Occam a defensive back prospect from Gwinnett County? If he is as smart as he is reputed to be, he won’t wind up at Auburn (unless its a bidness decision).

I wonder what a list of our 10 worst offensive outputs would look like.

Just a shot in the dark, but 2015 might pop up a couple of times.

2009 and 2010 have the most sub-300-yard games. Georgia’s only sub-200-yard game since 2009 came against Florida in 2016. Last year’s Auburn game would rank as the fourth worst behind that 2016 Florida game, 2012 South Carolina and 2013 Vandy.

Scratch my first line. 2015 had the most sub-300-yard games in any one season. Two were right on the cusp, so I think I kind of glanced past them.

In reflection, I am coming to believe that the ’15 season may have been a work of great coaching. Of course, since CMR hired OCBS that may be damning with faint praise. And still, 52 points against the Cocks!

DAMN. Then I went back to check myself and recalled the Bauta Affair. So that assessment is with reservation.

Impressive for us, no doubt. But, how in the actual hell does a team of ~4 star players amass a grand total of 117 yds in a game??
Granted, I think they got sacked like 87 times that game, but still.
I don’t always blame the OC/HC, but I gotta believe the players could’ve drawn up plays in the dirt and equaled that output.
Gus Malzahn and Gus Malzahn’s offense is uneven at best.

Damn near unstoppable with an “athletic” QB

Will be interesting to see if AU can keep their players going after the last 5 minutes against A&M. They aren’t a tightly knit group from all reports but maybe the brainfart from Jimbo will motivate them to save what is left of their season. I am betting “no”, Dawgs could be on fire coming home under the lights to avenge that game on the Plains last season. But this series has a history of the better team getting waxed at the most surprising times. Easy to see UGA covering easily, also easy to see them have a letdown after the last two weeks. Glass is half full for me, Dawgs love a night time home game…. UGA 31 AU 13

Kirby/Tucker excited about the three (3) challenges presented here: hold ’em under 117, 140, then try 164. Would be just downright perfect timing right after the Barn AD calls the Bus back for 2019. GATA. Beat Auburn.

Arkansas hasn’t won many games this year, but they won that one for sure.
