“Great idea, boss!”

Jeremy Pruitt knows who butters his bread.

Pruitt explained how the Hall of Fame former Tennessee initiated the recent practice adjustment and why it should benefit his players in the long run.

“Really it was Coach Fulmer’s idea,” Pruitt said after Wednesday’s practice. “I thought it was a great idea. We’ve never done this any at the other places I’ve been, but you’re talking about 15 or 20 minutes at the end of practice…”

Either he’s quickly mastered the art of sucking up, or knows how to throw the right kind of bone to keep someone off his back.  Only problem either way is that it’s Fulmer we’re talking about here.  If push came to shove, neither theory would matter.

So you’re telling me Fulmer has reached such a luminary, paragon of virtue like status up there that they simply refer to him as ‘Tennessee’? Physically speaking, it makes a ton of sense, as Tennessee is a wide state, stretching from the Carolinas to Arkansas. And Fulmer is well known for his girth. But the fact that they essentially named the state after him is something else.

LOL! I thought that was a typo..but maybe you’re right. The comments after the article (all 4 or so of them) speak of PP in glowing terms.

Maybe CJP is really being genuine.
    The idea seems logical.
    But “Youth Development Program”?
When I was playing HS ball, the coach would dismiss kids from practice two or three at a time. If you were in the later groups you got extra instruction and practice.
I had no idea we were in a YDPP.
If Booch had only thought of this he might still be coaching UT instead of just being paid to do it.

The “back” area is exactly the part of Pruitt’s body he should be worried about. Keeping Phil “off your back”, or anywhere within arm’s length is a good plan. Guess that is why he is a defensive genius.

      Yeah..they’re sickening.
I saw a post by a Tennessee idiot fan on FB yesterday actually ragging on Mizzo. In his mind, the Vols have already won that one.
They’re feeling their oats after winning their second SEC game in two years.
I hope they lose the next two.
I hope they lose to Vanderbilt in a fight to stay out of the basement.
If they do win out in November, Junior and Lulu will be expectantly waiting a top ten rating in the final polls, and a top five in the ’19 pre-season polls.

They are unbearable…..insufferable bunch of shitheads. Lived in Nashville when we went thru that 9 game losing streak. They love to rub it in. I still have some old friends there that text or call today if we lose (seldom these days) or are behind in score in a game. Can’t think of a team I hate worse unless it is Notre Dame….not sure who I would want to win that game. Probably the only win I would know would be a large sinkhole.

I hate Tennessee, but they look a hell of a lot better in the back half of this season than they did last year. They’ve gone from bottom feeder to back in be middle of the pack. CJP has done a pretty good job imo.

He’s taken ’em to the next level- mediocrity.

Kentucky and Vandy won’t just be able to roll their helmets out there anymore.

He has accomplished this with a trash roster. CJP has a track record of excellent recruiting. I’m not concerned cuz Kirby, but I could see them becoming the new S Carolina. Usually a win, but always a tough place to play.

          Accomplished what, exactly?

+2 in SEC wins with a shot at +4 with basically the same trash roster from last season. In fact it’s arguably worse than last year with the departure of John Kelly.

My guess is they split these last two and end up +3.

Right now they’re kind of the old South Carolina, but yeah, battling for fourth in the East, aiming for third, is kind of where they are for now. For as long as it lasts, thank you, Football Gods.

In the bigger picture, a real concern for the Vols is that they’re closing on a twenty-year decline (I pick 2000 as the downturn) and that’s a big red flag for any program- a fork in the road. If Pruitt doesn’t manage that second year bump and then maintain it steadily a lot of root-rot sets in and it becomes hard to return to where you were, especially in their recruiting landscape. Ask Arkansas.

Ten years ago they could still recruit kids who remembered Manning and Martin. Now they remember Crompton and Bray.

They’re on the right track here- they really need to listen to Fullamerde, gather his chubby insights, emulate his girthful methods, and instill his flabtastic process to get the program back to where he had it in 2008.

Fulmer and Pruitt made it clear there will be a large turnover in the roster this offseason. They need to determine who stays and who gets processed.

Youth Development Practice is a just a fancy name for it.

When I read the opening sentence “Jeremy Pruitt knows who butters his bread” a picture of Fulmer as Marlon Brando flashed in my mind…
