Not good

I didn’t want to hear this, Kirby.

He’s gonna need some ILBs to step up this week, that’s for sure.

I think Tindall and Anderson. Both dudes are fast, and if they can read the gaps right, they can close quickly. DBs just need to be disciplined enough not to let a WR get behind them.

Speed is great, but is more about recognizing your sets, reading your keys, not over-pursuing & just playing discipline football….or they will take it for 6 in a heartbeat. Experience counts in a game like this. Maybe not being too far removed from HS will help some of these young guys.

But you already knew all of that, right??

Thinks Anderson is going to be a star …..but man, he is skinny. He still seems to find a way though, determined.

What is with the foot injuries this year do we need better footwear?

  5. I am getting used to the idea that tech is gonna possibly score 30 points. We just have to score more.

  6. The Dawg abides

Last year we ran a stack at MLB with Patrick in front committing to the dive and Roquan behind him flowing to the play side. It worked great because, Roquan. We don’t have anybody with his instincts or sure tackling. Taylor is quick but can’t get off blocks well. Crowder is getting better and Tindall is probably closest to Roquan in ability, but very young so assignment discipline will be a factor. The coaches may have been counting on Rice in that role, or to play in front to stuff the dive. We’ll never know now.

    • We looked like we showed them a look they had never dealt with before last year and it was awesome. Not going to work 2 years in a row though. They’ll have an any of we try it again.

I will be interested to see how much Cox plays this week. He has struggled with discipline against the run. I hope I am not screaming his name for the wrong reasons this Saturday.

  9. Experience against this offense matters. As much as I want to see Tindall and Quay start making an impact, this would be a tough spot. Crowder needs to be ready to go.

Rice was probably the player we could least afford to lose on either side of the ball this week. Even D. Baker is a little more expendable than normal due to their offense not playing into his strengths.

That said, we need Monty even more the following week. If we can’t beat Tech without him, we’re probably not in good shape to beat Alabama with him.

I’m with the group that thinks we will be hard pressed to use FR and RS FR against an offense that needs more discipline and sure tackling than anything else. Techs biggest problem and their greatest advantage is facing teams that are used to playing them. We play them every year so we know how to defend them, it’s a matter of execution, execution, execution. I’m Munsoning on the young guys being able to do it.

Going all full blown conventional wisdom on that last sentence Bluto.
