Rematch, my ass

For anyone who thinks that the selection committee would be biased against Georgia in the final four teams picked today because nobody wants to see them play again, I offer this in response:

Like I said, I don’t think Georgia crashes the party, but it won’t be due to a concern over public fatigue.

    Let’s see…

    Last year

    Oklahoma
    Georgia
    Bama
    Clemson

    This year

    Bama
    Clemson
    Notre Dame
    ?

No way in hell will they let Notre Dame simply replace Oklahoma…

I did not know that, but I suspected it. We are a ratings bonanza right now. I will say that if we do get picked in the top 4 (not counting on it, by any means) we will get to play ND – which will get great ratings all by itself – in hopes of a Bama-UGA rematch. Or a Clamson-UGA slugfest. It sucks to worry about something I have no control over, but it’s better than being out of it altogether. Right now, I am just playing the follow the money game.

How many times can our players keep playing like they have in the last two Bama games and not become totally crushed mentally. If we are included in Playoff so be it but I would just as soon end the year against somebody not named Alabama.

I’m one of those people who enjoys beating Tech, but doesn’t feel like it’s been much of a rivalry for a while. Well, after last night and watching all those bitter nerds pull for Alabama, I can’t wait for next year where we can lay 60 on them.

I was surprised how many of my friends in the Republic of Texas who could care less about UGA and the SEC were blowing up my phone with texts about how exciting, etc. this game was…at least through the first half. But I doubt this would carryover to a rematch. Actually hope we get the Horns in NOLA.

How can a team with a useless OC and stupid head coach be the number 5 team in the nation? I’ll hang up and listen.

Even Einstein probably made a mistake or two in his life. Kirby certainly isn’t stupid, but he did something incredibly stupid yesterday, even while he was demonstrating genius for most of the game. We all screw up.
BTW…I don’t know how the final polls are tabulated, but if UGA beats Texas, they should be #2 in the finals.

  8. Given the list … we might as well skip the semifinals because Bama is going to lay the wood to OU and Clemson is going to destroy ND.

Bama-Clemson round 4 is what everyone has clamored for since August.

Let go to New Orleans and open a can of whoop ass on Texas.

While I concur, Herman is going to make that game a big deal for the “Texas is back” train to roll into Spring practice. I have no concern about is getting up for the next time we play Bama but Kirby will have his hands full having the Dawgs about 90% effort for the Sugar Bowl. Much tougher job, especially with the guys not coming back next year. We can always plead the disinterested, exhibition game case but it could be a buzzkill. Ending up in the Top 5 again in the final poll would be very nice. Turn those young’uns loose!!

Isn’t very likely the Dawgs will be playing for #3 or even #2 ?
Beat Texas and if ‘Bama handily wins the championship game..wouldn’t the consensus (maybe I should say “shouldn’t” the consensus) be that Georgia is the second best team in the country? ]
The final polls aren’t locked into naming those final four the four best after the smoke clears in January, are they?

      • I agree. I worry about those guys on defense having their heads screwed on right for this game after Kirby pretty much took the game out of their hands with the fake punt call.

If you look at the Longhorns’ record, they regressed in my mind during the year. All things equal, I would guess we open as an 11-15 point favorite and maybe a few points higher (similar to the Bama/OU spread).

Remember when my Alma Mater, Utah, beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl all the while Bama fans, media, and coaches claiming disinterest because they were so superior? Well, let’s not make that mistake. The Horns are a good team with a helluva lot of pride, so let’s prep accordingly. I think we’re a superior team but will wait on bragging until the game is over!

      • Line opened at Georgia -12.5 … If the Dawgs’ heads are in the game, that seems like a good bet.
