“We’ve got some CEOs new to this environment with angry sports blogger mob…”

If you ever wonder how in the world Larry Scott is still gainfully employed as a conference commissioner, read this unbelievable story about how the conference circled the wagons after the recent officiating scandal, and you will wonder no more.

Oregon State president Ed Ray responded to the group:

“We have no interest in letting others define us. We do have so much to be proud of … I have seen no adverse impact of sportswriter nastiness among supporters of the university. We should talk about seizing the communications initiative in the sports world. I think some of your concern is probably due to having to deal continually with the characters who populate sports media.”

These people deserve each other.

Their cluelessness would ordinarily be amusing, except these are some of the idiots running college athletics into the ground.

“Their cluelessness would ordinarily be amusing, except these are some of the idiots running college athletics into the ground.” They don’t care. They will ride the horse right in to the ground while making millions. They won’t be around for the reckoning.

Well, see, now that’s the problem in the Pac12: the millions are getting sucked into the conference office and the ADs are scrimping to keep up with the B1G and SEC.

I dont expect to still be tuned in to college football in 5 years. Mostly, because I do expect to have two NC hats by then.. 😉

Those guys in the Pac 12 don’t get it. What the #2 guy in the conference did by ordering a TV ref to change his decision on a call was game-fixing. It messed with the integrity of that game, and the sport of college football. What’s even more troubling to me is I believe the very same thing is going on in the SEC and we don’t know it ‘cause the SEC is better at covering it up.

University presidents have no place in leadership in college athletics. I’m sorry, the quote from the Oregon president proves it. “We should talk about seizing the communications initiative in the sports world. I think some of your concern is probably due to having to deal continually with the characters who populate sports media.”?? These eggheads have never paid attention to sports in their lives and wouldn’t be paying attention now if they didn’t have to. And that’s fine! Let the sports people handle the sports. This is no different than the computer salesman ripping off your grandfather. The fact that these people have no idea how sports work makes it that much easier for a grifter like Larry Scott to fleece them.

In other words if we didn’t put it out or it’s not covered exactly the way we wanted, it’s fake news.
