The healer

Honestly, if this isn’t a perfect match…

Former Tennessee head coach Butch Jones has accepted a position on Mike Locksley’s staff at Maryland, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to InsideMDSports.

Jones, who spent last year as an offensive analyst at Alabama, is expected to coach tight ends and serve as an associate head coach at Maryland. The 50-year old Michigan native, who also served as head coach at Cincinnati and Western Michigan, formed a relationship with Locksley during their year together under Nick Saban and will now work for him in his first coaching position since he was let go at Tennessee in 2017.

If there’s anyone out there who can take players’ minds off an unspeakable tragedy like McNair’s death, it’s Booch.  A year of five-star hearts and trash cans, and those kids will be yearning for Durkin’s return.

I’ll take my tongue out of my cheek now.

Butch and Locksley go together like matches and gasoline. With no adult supervision (Damon? Bwahahahaaha), what could possibly go wrong?

Maryland was already a dumpster fire and now they’ve squirted some lighter fluid on it for good measure. The Locksley Era will be over in three years.

Seriously, Booch is so deeply disrespected in the coaching community that this is the best he can do?

Wait, wasn’t Butch accused of “bullying and mental abuse” at UT?

This ought to go over well…

I still can’t figure out why they didn’t keep Canada, unless he didn’t want it. Just baffling.

Because Maryland can get him cheap.

Tennessee has to pay Butch three more years.

If Capital One pulls their sponsorship, maybe that could change it to Life Field at Byrd Stadium.

  7. It looks as though the hc @ bama runs thru staff, but a closer look reveals a lot of 1 year retreading going on there…….most are happy to be somewhere doing something and they don’t dare f&%k with ol’ nick….so they’re essentially lighting seegars and doing laundry/sweeping type duties, very tidy nick, very tidy!

  8. We won’t hear from him again. Aside from the scandal, it’s hard to find anything more boring than Maryland football.

This will blow up in about 3 years. Locksley is possibly the worst hire by a major program in the last five years. The fallout will most likely collect Damon too.

I thought it would take 3 to 5 years to even get close to “Sabanizing” Butch for rehire. Nick must have a neural neutralizer.

I saw him on the sidelines during the SEC Championship game. He had a look on his face Iike he had a hand in that win. The equipment managers and water boys had more to do with the game than him. I’ll always hate that douche bag for falling to his knees after the hail Mary in ’16.
