Essentially bragging about being faithful to your wife (hence people are jealous as a result) is equivalent to bragging about feeding and providing shelter for your kids. You’re not supposed to cheat on your wife, so bragging about doing something you’re supposed to do in the first place is nothing short of asinine.

I’m sure it’s an oft-paraphrased / referenced story, but I remember my pastor telling a story when I was a kid about the church giving a man a “most humble” pin and then taking it away from him when he wore it as a lesson in what being humble actually means. I didn’t take a lot of lessons out of my time in the church, but that one has stuck with me for 30 years.
