Give Danny White credit for continuing to beat that drum for UCF.
In an email exchange between UCF athletics director Danny White and Florida Gators athletics director Scott Stricklin, White not only lobbies for Stricklin to schedule a neutral site game with the Gators, but encourages Stricklin — a member of the College Football Playoff Committee — to help him fix a “broken” system.
The Orlando Sentinel obtained the email exchange between White and Stricklin via a public records request regarding scheduling a UF-UCF series.
There’s a lot going on there. Allow Allen Kenney to summarize.
That’s all nice, but there is the matter of leverage. When it comes to getting Florida to schedule UCF as a peer program, White doesn’t really have any. If this is more about public shaming the P5 into playoff expansion, well, fine, but that’s not an issue for Scott Stricklin, rather for Greg Sankey.
It’ll be interesting to see where White goes next, based on how the bowl game against LSU goes.

I give DW props for doing his job and I can respect standing pat on 1-for-1 scheduling in a dress-for-the-job-you-want kind of way. But this is college football and if you want to have a shot and you’re Boise/UCF then you have to give a little.

I wouldn’t put CF as a Boise equal, not at all. Boise didn’t go all Bowden/FSU level but the they have been paying their dues while playing their conference schedule, never self-declared themselves anything they hadn’t earned, and never acted like a 12 year old with diarrhea of the mouth. The FSU blueprint is widely known, is White just dense? (Certainly acts like it.) Take the FU offer or STFU.

Florida has already extended a reasonably fair offer. They do not need UCF but UCF needs UF or someone like them on their schedule.
Swallow your pride and play UF- it would be stupid not to unless you have another major program in the wings and this is showmanship. No one gives a fuck about UCF or they’d be on the Top 4 after 2 straight years on going undefeated.
My guess is they start losing a game or two or three from here on out and then they play in some shitty bowl games in the coming years. And then, we wont have to hear what Danny White has to say and really not giving a fuck about UCF whatsoever.
