It seems to me that this is a very good way for Georgia to approach the Sugar Bowl.
But Ledbetter is also fired up about another opportunity to play for the program he loves and the momentum it can provide heading into 2019.
“They’re really big, man,” Ledbetter said. “I know I’m going to get in the game and play a lot, but it’s really the start to a new season. You get the younger guys you’ve been developing into the games to see how they act in in-game situations. You put them in crunch- time situations just to see how they react and how they go. That’s what it’s about. You want to win the game and you want to be physical and execute the same way but you also want to see what you have for the years to come.”
It’s the first game of 2019. Sure, guys like Deandre Baker may be leaving, but it’s time for the next group of Dawgs to step up and show what they’ve got. Opportunity is knocking for plenty of guys and the staff will be watching and evaluating.
We need to see them turn James Cook & D-Rob loose. Also Stanley. Anyone have updates or info on how Zeus is doing? Will he be ok to practice in spring?

Any update in Baker?

Burnt Orange Nation had a story yesterday on the matchup between Baker and Collin Johnson, one of their big receivers. So I’d assume he’s still playing. We will know for sure this week when bowl practice starts back up.

Just a further thought, this will be a great test for Baker and if he does well, can actually help himself in the draft. The only knock I see against him is size and if he plays well here against a much taller receiver, it will help cement his draft stock.

You keep saying this, but there is no evidence to support it. The reality is this game can only hurt his draft status.
If he shuts people down, that’s expected. That’s what he has always done.
If he gets burned – even ONCE – it can hurt him.
And if he gets injured…
There is literally no upside to this game for Baker. If he plays, it is a tremendous gift to his teammates and us fans.

Sure it can help him and, yes, it could hurt him. Most likely he stays the same, he has always been consistent. Shutting down one of the all-time leading Texas receivers could definitely get him more high grades. And there are still some NFL personnel guys who check another box for him playing with his team to help them win.

The number of youngsters and returning veterans on our 2 deep is why I think we play this game pretty hard. A spot on our 2 deep for 2019 is valuable, no chance those kids don’t let it rip when on the field. Now missing a veteran like Baker would hurt, still hoping he honors his early statement and plays at least the 1st half.
