Nobody turns down Nick Saban.

Well, almost nobody.

Saban seems to be doing his old defensive coordinator a solid this offseason by showing the world how much doesn’t matter to running a successful program.  Also, while I don’t actually know, why do I have the sneaking suspicion that Long’s agent is Jimmy Sexton?

Strange times. Everyone heading for the exits. Seemingly not a ton of excitement about signing up to be on Satan’s staff.

Chip gets a raise, Jimmy gets a cut, and Saban has his next OC lined up when Sarkisian jumps back to the NFL as a HC.

If I’m an AD at a school whose assistants are looking around, I tell them to bring me a written contract offer before I’ll negotiate any salary increase. If I’m a head coach looking for an assistant, I interview all my top candidates before I send any written offers.

Yeah, I don’t think these AD’s understand leverage. Small job market for college coaches, lots and lots of coaches who would be happy to make a million bucks a year.

Wait Bill, you’re suggesting that since it is a business it should be run like a business? Dang, and here we all thought it was simply a matter of how much money can one extract from the apparently endless supply. Oh, except for the players.

Fortunately for Jimmy Sexton, you’re not AD material. 😉

That’s pretty much what Kirby did in 2010 and he got eviscerated in these parts. Reportedly had a verbal agreement as the DC, then took the offer sheet back to Bama to get a raise. Read and heard a lot of people say because of that, Kirby would never coach at Georgia.

Sark is the new OC at Bama and trust me when I say Bama fans aren’t real happy about it.
