Coaches say the darnedest things, NSD edition, part two

Generally speaking, it’s not a good thing when the biggest story about your signing class is the kid who left in between the early signing date and yesterday.  Clay Helton tried to babble his way through it.

Seriously, “he loved his time here at USC”?  He wasn’t even there long enough to make his bed.

It’s been a short offseason, I know, but between McCoy and Kingsbury, has anyone had a worse month than Helton?  The man is a walking “This is fine” meme.

This and previous threads on this topic demonstrate one thing. Coaches need to STFU about players who transfer away from their programs. Period. No exceptions.

Right? I really don’t understand what’s so hard about, “X thought he would happier someplace else. We wish him the best.” That was basically the Richt approach. Say what you will about the guy, but he always won the PR battles.

If Helton looses the USC gig he can apply for Baghdad Bob’s old job.
