Big shoes to fill

Not much mention is being made of this guy’s departure…

… and I know there’s depth and talent on the o-line, along with a coach who knows how to develop it.  Still, Gaillard really came a long way from where he started, didn’t he?

Catching on

By the way, as we ponder the superb way the staff went about its business filling the holes in the receiving corps, it’s worth mentioning one coach in particular.

Cortez Hankton, Georgia

Georgia does not sign the No. 1 class in 2019 without the big flip of five-star George Pickens on the first day of the Late Signing Period, and the credit for that success goes to wide receiver coach Cortez Hankton. Adding Pickens soothes the loss of another five-star wide receiver, Jadon Haselwood , from earlier in the process. Under Georgia’s position-specific recruiting responsibilities, Hankton also got four-star Makiya Tongue out of Louisiana, and while he was landed after Rivals100 receiver Dominick Blaylock had committed, Hankton managed to keep that commitment intact.

Not too shabby.  Of course, now he’s gotta coach ’em up, but since he’s the same position coach responsible for the performance of the kids who just left that we’re fretting over, I’d say he’ll probably do okay.
