That’s why they pay him the big bucks.

What kind of nit wit thinks that the Big 12’s best path for strengthening itself would be to throw its fate in with Larry Scott?

Jon Wefald, who ran Kansas State for 23 years — he hired Bill Snyder — said he devised the strategic alliance after being asked by current West Virginia president Gordon Gee, in the fall of 2017, to consider ways to “strengthen” the Big 12…

Gee called the proposal “brilliant,’’ according to Wefald…

Oh.  Never mind.

It’s like there’s this massive conspiracy to make sure Scott really is the smartest guy in the room.

If Gordon Gee declaring an athletics-related endeavor “brilliant” isn’t the absolute kiss of death, I don’t know what is.

I have to admit, I do like the idea of no FCS or group of five opponents. I would love for the SEC to embrace that philosophy. UGA should never play teams like Murray State, Austin Peay or Samford. It’s just plain embarrassing. Not to mention, those games are not entertaining and since they are all played at home, an insult to ticket holders who have to pay for a vastly inferior, unwatchable product.

Since the PAC 12 has 12 but the BIG 12 has 10, how would that work w/o someone from the PAC 12 having to pick up outside games still?

Is this the same Gordon Gee who singlehandedly ruined Vanderbilts athletics? Yup.

I don’t like Gee, but to say he ruined Vandy Athletics is not true. Vandy football was poor before his time there.

  5. As a Pac 12 fan, I like it. Wish the SEC would do the same. All games are against top competition.
