Trollin’, trollin’, trollin’

What in the holy hell is this?

Former Georgia outside linebacker D’Andre Walker generated some attention in a recent interview on the radio station, Atlanta’s Sports X, in which Walker seem to make a comment critical of UGA quarterback Jake Fromm…

Walker, as seen in an Instagram video shared by The Sports X, seemingly questions whether Fromm is a “bad man” — as described by show host and former Georgia Tech quarterback, Joe Hamilton.

If you watch the clip in question (dial it up to the :44 mark), Walker’s not questioning Fromm, he’s giving Hamilton shit in a lighthearted way.  But somehow this is worth mentioning at Dawgnation“Some Georgia fans”, my ass.

It’s always a long offseason at the AJ-C.

Now Rawhide and the bar scene from The Blues Brothers is stuck in my head. Thanks. 🤦‍♂️

So what? Walker and Fields are no longer on the team so even if Walker favored Fields it’s now a moot point.

    • It’s a half-assed attempt to make it sound like there was dissension in the locker room last season. And since some of those players are back, it wouldn’t be so moot if true.

The farther we get down the road, the more I believe the kid was a poisoned apple.
And the more thankful I am that he’s gone.

        • I haven’t heard a single thing yet to suggest that’s the case.

            I wasn’t clear.
Reference is to Fields, not Walker.
And I realize Fields is a talented young man that wants to play and will almost certainly be successful.
Transferring was almost certainly the best route for all concerned.

If you realize that Fields just wants to play, then why do you and some others here, have so much disdain for the kid?

If you have to ask, you probably wouldn’t understand. It’s been hashed out on GTP for months.
If you think he’s Mr. Wonderful that’s fine with me. I don’t really GAS.

Typical response. I don’t think Fields is “Mr. Wonderful” as you put it. However, I find it interesting that there’s so much vitriol for the Fields, yet I find mostly excuse making and sympathy from some on here for Sasser.

Jake Fromm is a “bad man.” As in Jules Winnfield’s wallet “bad.” Did Jake run Fields off? Yeah, he did.

But anybody who thinks Kirby isn’t going to do what it takes to win isn’t paying attention.

The obvious conclusion from articles such as this is that other schools are scared, and rightfully so. They all see what’s going on at UGA and the success we are having and it’s killing them. The only thing they can think of doing is trying to troll us and create controversy where none exists. Let them do what they want and the obvious answer to their feeble attempts will be to crush them like grapes on the field. (as in: “suck on that, Gayturds”)

I think it comes with the territory. Admittedly, some of us slam Saban and the Tide every chance we get (sometimes on little or slim factual evidence) because they have been on top for so long.
So Hamilton and Walker have a light discussion and the matter is twisted by some poor excuse for a journalist with an agenda. Sounds familiar.

What the hell do you expect them to do, abandon their “QB controversy” narrative?

BTW, my sources at the AJC tell me that Stetson Bennett has really impressed in the weight room and with his attitude, and should push Fromm for snaps this fall. If he dosen’t, Conner Riley is investigating whether it may be bigotry. Bennett, after all, has coarse curly hair, while Fromm has Germanic surname.

    Stay tuned.

The locker room from looking outside never seemed to be as united as the year before but only the guys in that room know. I think it is hard to lose players like Chubb, Wynn, Michel and Roquan for a host of reasons. There is a wealth of experience and talent returning this year. I expect finding leaders won’t be as difficult.

I’ve said all along that Fields was a cancer.Good luck at his future school. Fromm has no pressure now and it will show this season . He elevates his game from great to elite.

  8. Walker is a defensive player so spent very little time around the offense in drills, or the classroom sessions. Some scrimmage plays, and throws against air were his best chance for observations. It certainly wasn’t anything someone saw in live, game action. And as a quality pass rusher, he is far more likely to be impressed with Justin than Jake.

I don’t think anyone questions that Fields has a strong skill set whether it be running or throwing the ball. I think he has a decent chance to be the starter at ohio, and he will probably put up big numbers against Big14 defenses in an offense that is more geared to his skill set. That won’t change what his chances were of replacing Fromm in 2019 in our offense. Some of their QBs have put up big numbers against Big14 type defenses, why wouldn’t Fields do something similar?

No one really knows what he will be like as the man in charge at this point and in game conditions, but he should find things to be easier for him after what he saw at UGA and in the SEC. This discussion won’t go away, but it is an apples to oranges comparison. Our coaches saw what they needed and seemed pretty clear as to who gave us the best chance last year. I don’t need Walker’s assessment to know they had a far better vantage point. I have nothing against Fields as a talent, and am happy we still have Fromm for at least one more year. It really isn’t fair to compare him against Fromm who is one of the best QBs in all of CFB, Fields just made a bad decision in thinking he would just vault to the top of UGA’s quarterback room.

I agree with your post Mac. I also think Fields made a mistake leaving Georgia for tOSU. He could have stayed in Athens and the coaching staff could have structured his participation so that he red-shirted next year, much like they did with Hutson Mason a few years ago. If Fromm leaves for the NFL after his JR season (I think that is likely) Fields would have become the odds on favorite to be the starter at Georgia for 3 years starting in 2020.

Fields is/was not going to sit behind anyone for 3 years. I don’t know why people keep saying that. The kid is too talented. Raw, but talented nonetheless. IMO, Fromm is at best a mid 2nd round pick unless he really lights it up this upcoming season. I think Fromm is excellent at what the coaches are asking him to do, which is to take care of the ball and get the offense into the best plays to attack opposing defenses. I’m not knocking him, I just want to see him carry the team when the running game is not hitting on all cylinders.
