Believe it or not, proof exists that there are still some Georgia Tech fans who are normal human beings.
At least by the response to a highly unscientific survey, Georgia Tech fans are strongly in favor of the football team’s coming five-game series at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Fans were asked on Twitter and Facebook through AJC accounts to rate Tech’s agreement to play one game annually in the $1.6 billion stadium between 2020-24 – including Notre Dame in 2020 and 2024 and Clemson in 2022, with opponents to be determined in 2021 and 2023 – on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being most in favor.
… Being able to purchase alcohol (only fans in premium seats can do that at Bobby Dodd Stadium) was another plus. [Emphasis added.]
Good call. If I were a rational person invited to watch Tech football over the next few seasons, a readily available supply of alcohol would be a must-have. Whoever you lot are, you’ve earned yourselves an exemption from the Stingtalk-derived snark here at GTP. Bottoms up!
Huge gamble on their part… Pretty much that they are going to be embarrassed by the number of fans from the visiting programs coming in. And if they get blown out in each case – this could destroy any improvement in recruiting.
Still believe that inside of 10 years, Georgia State will be healthier than Tech is in football.

I understand your sentiment but Tech has an inherent advantage over State that will enable Tech to be “healthier” than State. Tech is in a Power 5 conference and State is in the Sunbelt. The Sunbelt does not get Bowl and television money that ACC gets.

Thanks for getting the week off on a light-hearted note!
They might not be such “jolly fellows” as they “drink their whisky clear”.

When your team is getting pushed around the football field and the visiting opposition has more on the big scoreboard then your team….alcohol consumption won’t get you to the next game any fasted

Is it in the contract that alcohol will be served throughout the stadium? We play a regular season game in an NFL stadium and there is no alcohol sold to the hoi polloi because of a league rule (same with SEC Championship Game). Does the ACC not have a similar rule (somewhat hard to believe) or are they waiving it?
In their defense, most normal people do need to drink as much alcohol as possible before and during a Tech game to be able to make it through the monotony….

The purpose of the deal is to generate money that Tech needs. Tech gets to keep the concession revenue. I will bet the contract permits alcohol sales.

Alcohol is most certainly served at the SEC Championship game

If you were a rational person invited to watch tech football, you would tell them you had to re-grout your bathroom. I’d rather have fingernails pulled out than have to watch 6 tech home games. So much mustard, so much hubris, so few rational humans, such bad football.

I will certainly raise a toast to my 2 Tech buddies.
