Weiszer brings it.

The right side of Georgia’s offensive line at the end of the second week of spring practices provided exhibit A of the enviable position the Bulldogs should have in the trenches this season.

Ben Cleveland, a 6-foot-6, 335-pound redshirt junior who started games each of the past two seasons, manned the right guard position. Cade Mays, a 6-6, 318-pound sophomore with seven starts last season, worked the right tackle spot.

They were with the Bulldogs second-string unit.

Yes, talent is overflowing from recruiting wins the last few years. On this day, a pair of former five-star recruits were ahead of Cleveland and Mays: 6-4, 325-pound sophomore Jamaree Salyer had nudged his way to No. 1 right guard and 6-7, 340-pound Isaiah Wilson remained as the starting right tackle…

If you are keeping track at home, the Bulldogs offensive line this spring boasts four players that were rated five-star recruits by the 247Sports Composite: Wilson, Salyer, Mays and freshman center Clay Webb.

I either need a cigarette or a cold shower now.

I don’t want to ruin the surprise for anyone, but look for a lot of 3 hole action this year….

Best o-lineS in the program’s history.

      FIFY.

I honestly think our first and second OLs are among the best we’ve ever had.

And heard Mike Griffith from the AJC say yesterday that four of them could go to the NFL after this season…….even if they didn’t start. Evidently they are that good and that deep. Be still my beating heart.

Rodrigo should be able to gain some yards behind that group. 🙂

Can’t we just line 10 of these offensive linemen up across the front and direct snap it to 7?

1a & 1b…..the first 10 rather than the 1st five. Thinks they are that good, hard to separate who the best five are. Never thought I would see it. At this point, give Pittman anything he wants…just don’t let him EVER leave Athens.

Why risk Swift getting stepped on? IF your stated goal is to “impose your will” then I want to see 11 linemen on the goal line. Wasn’t Kindley a running back in High School?

    • Mr. Nauta’s early exit to the next level is due to the fact…this o-line don’t need no stinkin’ tight ends this year or maybe next also..(sorry fella’s)

The turnaround in the OL the last few years has been nothing short of stunning. What used to be an injury-riddled line made up of 3 star types with an occasional lower 4 star guy or two is now stock full of 5 star and very high 4 star talent. I remember a particular spring and fall (’13?) where seemingly everyone had a shoulder injury, and we were moving DL guys to the OL as a result. Now we have 4-5 star typed in the two or three deep who are hoping to crack the starting lineup.

In college, my roommate used to smoke cigarettes in the shower. I’m just saying you can do both.

      Details? What dorm, when, etc…??

I am also really, really, really familiar with someone who habitually smoked in the shower at UGA.

Is it a small world or just coincidence??

      I gotta know.

Anyone who resided at Russell has seen someone smoking something in the shower. Not necessarily with the water on, but alcohol works in mysterious ways.

          What years?

If it’s the early 1990’s, put you’re hometown down and I’m betting that I’ll know who you are.

That didn’t help. I give up. I lived on 4C in Myers 1989-1991.

Then I lived off cedar shoals road.

I also was known to have a smoke in the shower.

              We’re you on 4C 1989-90 or 1990-91?

You remember the kid that jumped off Sanford Bridge?

                  The tanz-manian devil?

                  If so, that’s very true.

And I thought my smoking habits were unique… As they say, nothing new under the sun….

Well, it’s a small world to have gotten this close without a “hit.”

I’m guessing you were on the north end of 4C otherwise I don’t know how you wouldn’t have a reference on those two.

I hate to use real names to sort it all out though.

About dead center of the hall just north of the showers (weirdly enough, about three doors south from where my mother had lived in the 60s), but, yeah… same on the name thing.

If Salyer has in fact surpassed Cleveland (still think it could be Pittman doing some spring mix and match to see what he has), Salyer must be straight up mauling people. Wouldn’t be surprised given his promise coming out of HS, but still very impressive.

Didn’t we line up Cade Mays at TE occasionally? If he is that great of a blocker, let’s go for it. Just because they know what’s coming doesn’t mean they can stop it.

I say let’s line some of our backup OL’s at FB in short yardage situations and grind some defenses into a fine powder.

  11. Just…can’t…comprehend…shoulder issues…3 stars…nice walk on stories…moving over DL personnel…whats this ‘depth and talent’ thing everyone is talking about ?? Shouldn’t we be talking up our skill position players and averting out eyes from the gaps in o-line this time of year? Just can’t get my head wrapped around it, but this is my own issue that I can deal with 😉

  12. Amazing that Kindley is holding his spot. Wasn’t a highly rated recruit and “looks” kinda soft relative to the other guys but there was a point last season when I declared him as the best run blocker. The guy regularly has his man on skates 10 yards down field.

Before you guys get too carried away be reminded that every one of these guys were on the team on January 1st when the dream road graders plowing through opposing defenses turned into a nightmare Maybe the’ll be better this season but they weren’t “all that” on Jan 1.
