“Nike will not respond to the allegations of an individual facing federal charges of fraud and extortion…”

Nike’s problem isn’t that Michael Avenatti is a self-aggrandizing dick.  It’s that he’s a self-aggrandizing dick who appears to have receipts.

Nike is crooked. What does an honest citizen do when coming into possession of evidence proving a crime was committed and guilt of the perpetrators? Why, you report it to the authorities and turn the evidence over to them. Michael Avenatti tried to shake down Nike instead. I hope he goes to jail for 100 years. One thing is certain: he’ll get disbarred and we won’t be seeing him representing clients any more.

Is Nike responsible for any of our current recruits? Are they mixed up in our B-Ball recruiting program in any manner? I don’t want the rug pulled from under our current B-Ball program while we begin to cheer the better class than usual that we now have after holding our collective summer breaths expecting decommitments.

Hopefully, if anything, it’s a case of, if Nike is backing off on trying to channel the best recruits to the traditional powerhouses, that we have such a good class.

Blue chip athletes getting money from shoe and apparel companies instead of directly through bagmen is somewhat novel, but it doesn’t shock me.

Boy, that Michael Avenatti character sure is a scumbag, though, isn’t he?
