The more, the merrier

You know, one thing about this

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs had a record number of early enrollees this spring, 14, and for 11 of them, Saturday will be the first time they suit up in red and black. Rian DavisRyland Goede, and Trezmen Marshall have all been limited during or held out of the team’s spring practices due to injuries, but for the members of the No. 2 ranked class that will take the field, it’s an opportunity for them to get used to the environment between the hedges.

… is that there should be less of a depth problem than is usually the case on G-Day.

Still, I don’t expect to see much of Fromm or Swift today.  They probably ought to keep Woerner in bubble wrap while they’re at it, too.

Who are you looking forward to watching today?

  1. Dean and Smith … of course, the guy at the end of the day the QBR trolls should start over that bum Jake Fromm.

Given all the position battles, perhaps 15+, I am interested to see the enthusiasm and hunger that will ultimately drive this talented group toward their goal. WRs, OL, DL, and DB groups are all engaged in this daily from reports, too many individuals to narrow down for me.

I want to see the macro perspective because I am sure the individual talent is there, it just needs a healthy environment to thrive. Don’t expect to see a huge crowd due to the weather, but pride and the camera lens will motivate the worthiest enough to show us what we have.

The black team D to see how the line looks and havoc potential and how Stetson looks running the O. Nothing fancy happens in these exhibitions, so will just be giving it the ol’ eye test.

Oh, and Rodrigo’s speed around the end.

I’m looking forward to seeing backup QB’s, D-Rob and the rest of the receivers not named Simmons and Holloman. Also looking at LB’s and DB’s.

  9. I just want to see how awesome our O-line is, and in particular, how much Cade Mays has progressed in size and strength.

Looks like we may be seeing how well some of our guys can swim.

    How big is the crowd?

    • I thought it was a solid 40k.

    • Bulldog Joe

Lower bowl and club level nearly full. Upper decks mostly empty. Good crowd for a raw day.

Unseasonably cold. Wet field and strong winds from the open end affected the passing game.

Lots of short passes to the backs and TEs. No DRob due to sickness. DBs out battled the receivers. Nakobe looks great with the first team ‘D’.

Two minute offense needs work. Each QB had their moments but don’t expect much QBR bragging next week, Fromm included.

  14. I thought Bennet looked really good.

He did. Mathis showed a fair bit of potential, too. My primary takeaway from it all is that the secondary is loaded, even moreso than the rest of the team, which has no obvious weak spots outside of maybe a lack of depth at a couple of positions (depending on how players in the middle of the DL and at receiver/tight end develop).

Stetson and Mathis have eliminated my fears about life after Fromm (which hopefully after he gets a MNC this year…or next).
