“We certainly are sensitive to church and other events that are held on Sunday.”

Only so far, though.

Oklahoma’s season opener against Houston has been moved to Sunday, Sept. 1. The game will be on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. ET.

This will be the first Sunday game the Sooners have ever hosted.

You knew Mickey would be involved.

I wonder if beer will be sold.

They chose a night kickoff time because they’re sensitive to church. Wonder what time Sunday alcohol sales are allowed there.

Take a timeout to Asheville. Lots of great beer. They serve on Sunday too…

Senator you seem way more pissy than he does threatening to ban him and all.

            • Mike, no offense, but would you really prefer that I tolerate letting people go off on tangents as they see fit? That was working so well before.

Absolutely not. I told you before that the play pen was a great idea and made this place even better. That one post just seemed over the top and a little excessive. But I’m a big Barney Fife fan.

I thought your problem was with politics not general semi-on topic discussions?

I don’t follow. You had a problem with political discussions/arguments interfering with football posts. It was definitely a problem that you had to get under control. Thus the playpen was created for political bullshit. It has stayed pretty consistently political ever since it started and has been good for the blog. Every now and then you sneak in a non-political topic, like when you want to push conversation away from the Mueller report that you were breathlessly waiting for….:)

I didn’t think you had a problem with people discussing beer in a post in which you blogged about beer in stadiums on Sunday.

You couldn’t melt me down and pour me into Asheville. The transplants have just about ruined that place.

The same could be said about Charleston. Forget the transplants, those two cities are the best in the region to spend time eating and drinking. We went recently on a trip to Asheville and had a great time. Sierra Nevada is an awesome experience. Burial makes great stuff. I am always partial to Green man beers. We had a great time by the river at Zillcoah. This post is about beer right?

Good. I don’t like listening to people from California who decided to move to the South bitch about things being too southern and then turning nice places into the places left. As for different kinds of beer, if I want to try exotic beers I can do that at Omaha Brewing Company in little old Omaha Georgia and nobody acts shocked that you don’t talk, act, and think like you’re the bay area of California when you go there. Fuck me running, sorry, that’s my play pen topic for next Wednesday. Obnoxious transplants who dis over and then ruin small southern towns with all of their “improvements” like garbage in the street and “services”.

Green Man building that large air-conditioned facility was the best thing to happen to the Asheville summer beer crawl.

Do Baptists allow Sunday football attandence or do they have to stay home and watch it on the devil box?
With beer? That nobody knows they have?

  6. This is going to piss off some fans over there. If you think Georgia is the center of the bible belt, you have not spent any time in Oklahoma. More religious radio stations than not, and they still sell near beer, which I believe is 3.2 % max. You have to buy real beer hot from a package store. Weird place IMO. I have spent about a year and a half out there working and I dread going everytime. Good looking women though. No joke. Rivals Texas.

Playing on Sunday seems pretty irrelevant to me but I am appreciative that Mickey is finding a way to spread those opening weekend games out so we can max out our viewing opportunities after the long drought. Now I hope they improve their Thursday night match ups this season, last year was the worst options we have seen in years. Hope they are not cowing to the NFL broadcasts, different home audiences to me.

I know one game that won’t be on Thursday.

Sure, I know plenty. It isn’t hard to find 1-2 games a week that would be both entertaining and provide needed exposure for the two programs involved. Last season was sad on Thursdays, someone didn’t do their job, imo. The only time a UGA home game should be on a Thursday night is the opener. The extra two days rest can be very helpful going forward, almost a 1/2 bye week, assuming school would not be in to cause parking nightmares. UGA is a fast growing brand, never hurts to have more fans.

Since Catholics have church everyday, this complaint did not originate from us.

This sounds like an evangelical Protestant problem to me and regarding beer sales on sunday for these folks are concerned they always seem to have memory loss on JCs first miracle in Canaan when the liquid spirits are mentioned.

I’d like to say I appreciate all the evangelical Christians that read this blog (there are very many) and just turn the other cheek. I have a hard time always doing that. It takes a big person to do that..and a small one to sling insults at other’s faith.
