Shot.
Just in case anyone was unaware, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and Florida head coach Dan Mullen are not the best of friends. That puts an added layer to one of college football’s best rivalries. And looks as if Mullen threw some more kerosene on the fire Monday when he was discussing transfers.
While talking to reporters, Mullen appears to take a shot at Georgia, more specifically how everything unfolded regarding quarterback Justin Fields, who one of the most high profile players to enter the new college football transfer portal following the 2018 regular season.
“I’d think we did a poor job recruiting if guys were coming in and then immediately walking out the door because it was something different than what they thought it would be and we lied to them during recruiting, or we sold them on a dream that wasn’t true,” Mullen said, according to Thomas Goldkamp of Swamp247.
Chaser.
I can’t even begin to imagine the fun Kirbs is gonna have with this on the recruiting trail.
Jeez, the kid wasn’t even there long enough time to unpack his stuff. I wonder if the NCAA will grant him immediate eligibility if he transfers to another D-I school…

Only if someone said something stupid about him in section 37F during the spring game.

Whereas I would say we were doing a poor job recruiting if our biggest conference rival kept beating the hell out of us

Mullen tried so hard. We will continue to crush his soul each year without opening our mouths.

Does anyone know why this kid is leaving UF? Seems it was a mutual agreement? Or is the spin UF is putting on it?

Other than Will at South Carolina and Bobo at Col St just how many coaches do you think CKS is real friends with
Its well documented that by the time they parted ways CKS and Nicky Satan were at odds with each other and haven’t spoken in a friendly manner since Smart left ….. For that matter most coaches when they leave Saban do not stay pals with him
Most Coaches are use to being dictators and don’t get along well with others and its been that way forever …. Dooley didn’t like Spurrier nor did he like Bryant nor did either of them like him
Do you think Mark Richt and Urban were best of buddies?
Just stupid thing to report on and will have no bearing on the outcome or the score of the game when they play

It’s one thing to say they’re not bosom buddies. It’s another for Mullen to go out of his way to mock another coach’s recruiting, especially when he’s been outclassing Mullen on the recruiting trail.
Fake juice is always worthy of mockery in my book.

Who can ever forget those Dooley vs. Spurrier coaching match ups?

I wonder if Mullens ran his yapper like this against Ole Miss when he was at Mississippi State. We wouldn’t have heard much about it, but it would explain the hyper vitriol that has infected the Egg Bowl over the last several years. It’s made the Iron Bowl look like a relative love fest.
There’s never been any love lost between UGA and UF, but I wonder Mullens ‘ dickery is going to cause problems. I also wonder if he’s trolling Florida’s other rivals too.
On the other hand, Spurrier was (and is still) the Standard of Dickery and things somehow held together…but a lot of that was Richt’s calmness and refusal to engage. Kirby is a different kind of guy.

The issue is Mullen’s “dickery” involves him tripping over his own, repeatedly – hat to say it, but Steve almost always managed to back it up on the field…

Spurrier will always be the king troll but he really had something to crow about. Mullen’s been outscored 67-20 by Kirby in head to head match-ups.
I’ll admit that I think he’ll get Florida good again and definitely good enough to compete with us and to beat us on occasion, but that we may end up in a situation similar to Urban Meyer’s Florida teams and Richt’s Georgia teams only in reverse.
So yeah, it makes sense that they’d be bringing the fake juice.

He did and bears a lot of responsibility for all the stupidity that happened in that state over the last few years. Dan Mullen isn’t a good guy.

Mullen is still pi$$ed that he labored in Starkvegas waiting for McGarity to run Richt off to bring him to Athens to be close to his lake house on Oconee only to have the liquor barons pull the rug out from underneath him to hire Kirby.
I admit that I wasn’t a huge fan of hiring an inexperienced coordinator, but I damn sure never wanted Dopey Dan close to the steering wheel of the Georgia program.

Back when I was having Richtitis flare ups I actually thought mullen would be a good choice.
I was so very wrong.

I’ve been proudly anti-Mullen throughout. Glad he’s in Gainesville. Otherwise, they might find themselves a good football coach.

When the rumors began flying around about McDumbass wanting to hire Mullen to replace Richt I said if it happened it would end my lifelong fandom of UGA football. The man is an immature asshat who doesn’t (and wouldn’t have here) win enough to get away with acting like that. Thank god we dodged that bullet

I wouldn’t say anything about other coaches’ haircuts, given Kirby’s cut.

I wonder if he may just be trying to convince himself. Mullen’s wife did not want to return to Florida and said so publicly. It sounds like someone talking to themselves in the mirror.

Is she there? If not, that would explain Mullen’s demeanor (the hornier he gets, de meaner he gets).

Mullen doesn’t rate all the comparisons to Spurrier, who at least ran his yap from the win column. This is like if Goff or Donnan was taunting people after year one.

I will have great pleasure watching Kirby body slam his ass after we put 60 on him this year. Hell I’ll even go on Kirby’s bail to watch him do it. I hate all things gayturds.
