Go ahead and get you some.
- Pete Fiutak’s succinct description of this year’s Georgia Tech offense: “Square peg, meet round hole.” (Although he does predict a six-win season for the Jackets, which, should it happen, should vault Collins into serious consideration for ACC Coach of the Year.)
- I know folks try to make hay about Nick Saban’s age on the recruiting trail, but he sure sounds credible denying he’s ready to retire.
- Here’s a list ranking ACC schedules by difficulty, and, no, Clemson’s isn’t the easiest.
- Kirby Smart, on last year’s team’s mentality: “Players are taking ownership, which we didn’t have as much of that last year at this time. There was a lot more entitlement.”
- Mike Leach’s class wrapped up, with a final assignment to design three plays, under the premise that he might use one of them in Washington State’s game next season against Houston. He reviews five of those here.
- Details from Rush Propst’s personnel file ain’t pretty.
- Good point from Groo: “What stands out among this smaller senior class is that a good chunk of them are defensive linemen. Georgia returns six seniors along the DL next year…”
- North Carolina and Wake Forest have scheduled a non-conference home-and-home series. That’s got to be cheaper than what cupcakes are demanding these days.
- C’mon. You know you want to read a StingTalk thread entitled “Why do we hate them?”.
“The 51-7 hole in my heart that will one day be avenged”
LOL. That’s the best.

What about the guy that went on the vulgar rant about how stupid we all are, and then starts his last paragraph “Upon GENUFLECTION, it’s not just hate…?” I suppose he could really have meant kneeling in worship allowed him to get to the base reason he hates Georgia, but it’s much more likely he’s just not as smart as he’d like to think.

That list of offenses by Propst sounds like a quality resume for Auburn once the Gus bus gets taken out of service.

Propst’s head clearly got inflated by his years of success in Alabama to the point where he now thinks he’s invincible, infallible, and untouchable. Someone that deeply damaged has no business being around impressionable young men no matter how many games he wins.

I’m sorry, did the first post actually say, “Why can’t they be cool like Clemson fans…”? ‘Splain that one to me.
I’ve always thought branding an entire group of fans is dumb. It’s all about who you hang out with or surround yourself with. I’ve met delightful UF fans at the Cocktail Party and I’ve met some a-hole Vandy fans. Your view of fans is usually a reflection of you.
(except Tennessee fans. Screw those guys…….)

What a load of BS in that Stingtalk screed, I’ve set all over Sanford stadium and I’ve never seen anyone harass 10 year old girls. I have however seen Tech fans throwing shit on our band. Pathetic, their envy is palpable.

Yeah, I have an Auburn friend that swears he’ll never come to Sanford again because of horrible UGA fan behavior, but I’ve never seen the kind of stuff these folks talk about.

GT’s second best offensive player is a UConn TE transfer and their second best defensive player is their punter.
I know it’s the ACC, but how in the world does that add up to six wins?

I have to say that many of their responses could be mirrored as to why I hate Tech. I had teachers in the fast blush of early 1990’s success who taunted me for being a Georgia fan…annoying fans…seeing blood spilled at games that only involves Tech fans (seriously the only other time was the surprise LSU victory when the Braves clinched, there was a literal riot after that game near the Bookstore)…Jasper Sanks’ non-fumble…bringing up “38 years” when your own program hasn’t seen relevance in “28 years” and we’ve at least been within sniffing distance of a Natty…I could go on and on.

This is a poem/song written by Eugene “Sledgehammer” Sledge author of “With the Old Breed at Pelilu and Okinawa”.
Oh, Mother take down your service flag,
Your son’s at Georgia Tech.
Instead of fighting battles, He’s raisin’
A lot of heck.
He’s either playing softball or swimming
In the pool.
Mother take down your service flag,
Your son’s gone back to school.
Oh, Mother take down your service flag,
Your son’s gone back to school.
He’s not out fighting like he ought to do.
He’s never seen the ocean,
He’s never swabbed a deck,
Oh, Mother take down your service flag,
Your son’s at Georgia Tech.
Oh, Mother take down your service flag,
Your son’s gone back to school,
Instead of carryin’ a new M-1
He carries an old slide rule,
He’s raisin’ Hell in college,
He’s just a Ramblin’ Wreck,
Mother take down your service flag,
Your son’s at Georgia Tech.
There’s more truth than poetry in the above. The Marines here made it up to show our attitude towards the college training program. It goes to the tune of “Ramblin Reck.”

If and when we ever win another NC, I’ll take as much joy in the actual win as I will in the fact that the opposing fans can no longer say “haven’t won since ’80.” I’m no idiot, though, they’ll jut move on to “only one since ’80.”

No surprise there. We lost most of our team leaders the previous year.
On-field leadership reveals itself in the 4th quarter. Aside from a brief appearance in Jacksonville, it went missing.

You seriously have never heard the city referred to as the jungle? If there’s a reasonable benign interpretation of something someone says, I prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt, but that’s just me. And apparently the usage is common enough to be an example in the Merriam Webster definition of “jungle” by itself. See 2b. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/jungle

And as you pointed out the Auburn and Florida fans definition of “thug” did NOT match the behavior the Auburn & Florida fans were complaining of, here when I read the OP’s original comment I thought he meant city. I didn’t think of your racially charged interpretation at all, but again anytime I hear a word that is remotely associated with lower primates, I don’t immediately think of human beings of a different race, but again, that’s just me.

Okay, so you think “Welcome to the Jungle” is a racist song. You were 51 in 2007, so approximately 63 now, that song was after your time. It’s not racist, it’s about the CITY in this case L.A., basically the same exact usage as noted in 2b. of Merriam-Webster’s “JUNGLE” definition. Not that expect you to acknowledge that you were wrong, in 12 years you never have.

It’s kind of funny reading the “99% of their fans have never been to Athens” thing over and over as an alum. It really doesn’t even move the needle for me. I know a lot of sidewalk fans, but so many in my family and circle of friends graduated from UGA that this sort of rings hollow. The sports teams AND the University are inseperably part of my life.

I have two favorite kinds of Georgia Tech message board posts, both of which were on copious display in that StingTalk thread.
The ones that go on for paragraph after paragraph, each insult more florid than the last, but ends with a claim of “I don’t care about them at all.”
The ones that sniff about how they “have no respect for UGA fans,” as if that’s supposed to keep me up nights. Auburn fans like to hammer on this one too. My response is always the same: I don’t need your respect when I’ve already got your tears.

I’m not suggesting that I’m not happy they’re being beaten and badly, but I don’t enjoy watching us beat on a team that doesn’t deserve to be on the same field with us. Boring!. It was like Hawaii in 2007. Its just not fun for me to do that to a completely helpless team.
UF, Alabama, Auburn, ND, UT etc…? Oh, yeah, I’d watch the whole thing, probably on replay too.
Like I said, yech only matters on the rare occasions that they win. Then they must die. Why was 1991 so sweet? 2001? 2002? 2009? Really, I’d rather not talk about it.
Otherwise, who cares that they even exist?

It’s amazing to me how quickly entitlement set in when we didn’t even win the national title the previous year. One of my defining memories for 2018 will be the massive amount of entitlement that team demonstrated. The question is who is going to step up and lead better this year.

I agree. I surely thought that the Seniors would have been been hungrier than ever and stepped up to fill the void left by the four horsemen. However, when D-Bake dropped the ball before crossing the goal line and saw D-Swift shushing the crowd I knew we were in trouble.
