Iowa’s athletic department has spent almost a million dollars on a no-bid basis with a guy to provide game-day video services because “Jim provides consistency for our department.”
It’s seeking new proposals now, so Jim’s obviously done a bang-up job.
Somehow these guys have convinced themselves they’re management geniuses. In my next life, I’d like to come back as a P5 athletic director.
I think brand awareness campaigns are the new thing everyone thinks they need cause everybody else is doing it even though they’re not quite sure what it is, what the deliverable should be.

You sure about that, Chuck? Not to mention cost of services provided, you would have to watch every single play of every single Iowa football game for an entire season. I’m not sure 250 k would cover that….

After what I’m going through with hurricane Michael and what I currently make I have no problem doing that

Since it didn’t go through Athens, Chuck, we are the forgotten bunch of Dawgs of the forgotten storm. No one has any idea that we are still digging out and rebuilding down here.

Hang in there Chuck. I was mostly throwing shade on Iowa football. 🙂 Hopefully your insurance company and the weather gods will smile favorably for you.

It may be too late for you to begin a new career as an athletic director, but with your legal background you could set up a pretty solid consulting firm and make millions telling existing ADs what they already want to hear. If you can’t join ’em, bilk ’em.
