Didn’t see this one coming.

Well, shit.

According to Georgia Football Coach Kirby Smart, University of Georgia wide receiver and former Newton High standout JJ Holloman has been dismissed from the football team after an investigation into a 2018 assault was launched earlier this month.

“Jeremiah Holloman no longer represents the University of Georgia football program,” Coach Kirby Smart said in a statement to The Covington News. “We expect every member of our team to uphold the highest standards and values of the University of Georgia and Georgia football. It is disappointing when this does not happen.”

Not really sure why this took over a year to come to light, although the article states that the victim wished to not pursue the case criminally.  In any event, I hope the victim is okay.

Disappointing, to say the least.

  1. This will really hurt.

Yep. Oh well… Next man up!

    • Greg

Yep…but would probably hurt more if we kept him on the team. Can’t see any good reason to hit a female….unless he was legitimately threatened (gun, knife, etc).

If all true, good riddance. Kudos to Kirby for doing the right thing.

Move on, we’ll be fine imo….

  2. Biggus Rickus

That sucks. But at least they didn’t bury it and booted him.

  3. spur21

    Damn – just damn.

  4. GruvenDawg

Not going to lie this sucks in a football sense. None of us will probably know the whole story. Having said that I have no issues with him being taken off the team. I hope the victim is OK and Hollomon get’s help. No one on the team is above discipline, especially for battery against a woman.

No room for assaulting a woman, so I agree with Kirby on this.

BTW, Gus is on line #2.

Man, a hateful thing to read. I hope everyone involved finds peace.

It took a year because she didn’t report it as an assault until last month. So Kirby didn’t drag his feet on this for a year. He did what was right, and I couldn’t be prouder of him or of the Dawgs. Unlike Sideshow Dan the Clown, Kirby takes this issue seriously, and you can’t ask for more than that!

19 days ago… which is a pretty short time to get from possible revenge reporting to dismissal… which might indicate CKS knew more before June 2nd than we think.

Well, it’s started. Damn. This one is gonna hurt. 5th most important offensive player this year, imo. Was set to have a huge year. Just put a ton of pressure on Pickens to have a big year. That’s asking a lot of an outside receiver in our offense.

    • Dylan Dreyer's Booty

I am guessing DRob has an opening here and can make something out of it, plus the new guys. We recruited well at this position. We should be all right.

I am not going to defend Holloman here, but after reading the whole article I will predict he does not get convicted of anything. A year after the fact, and it gets reported and why? Because she didn’t want him dating another girl? Doesn’t excuse his actions, but this will never go to trial. Maybe a pretrial diversion thing, but that is all I would agree to if I was his attorney. She doesn’t really want to testify now.

      • The other Doug

The possibility of involving the police as an act of revenge doesn’t change the facts about the crime. He hit her hard enough to require 6 stitches while his brother held her and the doctor noted bruises around her neck consistent with choking. F him. He can rebuild his draft stock at Auburn.

Looking at the G-Day replay, I would line Eric Stokes up against Holloman in Knoxville.

Hope the young lady is ok. Kirby has shown he will help his players with any and Every issue they may have my man jj needs it.

She’s glad it’s all over the internet. They broke up shortly before she went to the police. He made a expensive, stupid decision and now he gets to live with it. I’m glad Kirby didn’t go into urban mode.

  13. For those Florida fans on the boards thinking Kirby is dirty…wouldn’t money cover this? If that’s your narrative Gayturds, then what now?

In other news…sad day for the program. He was going to do great things this year.

    • J-Dawg

Was he? We’ll never know and I’m OK with that. I’m glad to see that Kirby has the guts and moral fiber to dismiss one of his better players. I’ve been waiting to see if this would happen and Kirby has proven that he’s the right man for the job both on and off the field. This will put D-Rob and some of the new guys on the field faster now and we need their talent to rise to the top. I’m really looking forward to this year.

    • I’m neither gay nor a social justice warrior, but can we quit it with the ‘gay’turds thing?

@Senator, not sure why you tolerate that here, tbh.

Thank you. That always irritates me. I feel like we’re better than that.

        • McTyre

Yes, and retiring “butthurt” while we’re at it. Sounds more like the vernacular of StingTalk or Fortnite chat than a blog of mostly moderately intelligent and mature Dawg fans …

      • Agree. There’s no reason for it and I also wish the Senator would stop it. He doesn’t tolerate racial slurs not sure why this is different.

  14. sectionzalum

    What an asshole.

We got guys coming in. We will find a replacement. Holloman screwed himself. I believe he would have been drafted.

  16. Yep. Cager to the rescue. I hope his hands are better than the media thinks. Bad news for UGA, but worse news for Holloman and the victim. I think I wish him well, but I can’t get inside the head of a man who feels it’s okay to punch a woman.

  17. WNCDawg

I certainly hope the lady is ok, Kirbs did the right thing there is no place for this in any venue Period.
My only question is and these are just kids still remember but April of 18’…. there is more that does pass the keys here. I am not defending JJ nor am I Saying the protection of women are of the upmost importance.
#1) why would you continue a relationship after being attacked ( alluding to a statement they just recently broke up )again I have no knowledge.
#2) if Williams was still the high sheriff and there was wind of any activity this would have been over by May of 18’
#3) there is more to this than we will ever know, perhaps glimpse’s of what may be close, but in reality NADA
#4) ifI were the dad of the brother and sister perhaps I would kick his ass for not telling me about a dude hammering sis. Then again I am old school guess I’d be locked up but it wouldn’t take a year to get me put away…..
Kids do dumb stuff, I did but not like this. Kids, politicians and …….. fill in the blank of…….whatever or whichever you choose …….this entitlement shit has gone way overboard in way to many directions.

Dumb and dumber. You pick the plaintiff and defendant.
Dropped from program. Good deal! Move on. No doubt heart and hands were not in the program. Not sure if any other part of him is either.
Better be glad she does not have a bigger brother.
What a pussy! Beats up on girl. Real man!

Another bad actor. Just another dumb athlete!
Luke Smith, pitcher, of Louisville Cardinals. Not smart to let your emotions, hormones, and anger take charge of you. Not smart to drop F bombs on an opposing team with one run lead with a frame to go against Vandy.
NCAA should suspend him for awhile if he plays next year.
No place at CWS for that kind of antics.
Vandy had “last laugh”… in the end… Smith goes home…he spill that language there, and no one sees or hears.

  20. more spinners

Vandy and Michigan go for title in CWS.
Michigan used 3 pitchers to get there.
DAWGS last team to do that in 1990
Sean Kenny, DAWGS pitching coach, was with UM’s HC, Erik Bakich, for 5 years at UM and at Maryland for 3. UM has a staff.
Good move to bring in Kenny in ’17. Think not. Look at Dawgs pitiching in ’18 and ’19.
Message to AD…better pay up that staff!

So, I’m using the commentariat as a resource here, but why did d rob come back from cal? Any input is appreciated

  23. Ray

CKS fought to try and keep him that’s why it took over a year
UGA decided it didn’t need men who beat women a few season ago when CKS then when out and recruited our DL that was kicked off Georgias team to AL that less than a few months latter beat another woman in AL ….. Glad to see UGA stood up to CKS and kicked the guy off the team, Better the young man learn now that there are consequences to actions
