“And Georgia fans, don’t be turds. Enjoy this. Soak it up. It’s awesome. If you don’t win this year, it’s still not a failure. It’s a heck of a run. Back-to-back in the Playoff era hasn’t been done. So, to ask for a third I feel like it’s gluttonous. I feel like it’s not OK. But we’ll be in the mix.”-- David Pollack, On3.com, 5/9/23
Bama for the win with the worst possible cross divisional permanent rival.

And Auburn is at 50% against the conference.

They’re basically the South Carolina of the West.

Except for the fact that they have actually won something.

The Auburn number is skewed a bit by that oh-fer season in 2012 that got Chizik fired, but even so, good lord. That’s a whole heap of money they’re payin’ Gus to win less than 60% of his conference games.

Vandy, Kentucky and Tennessee have been, yes.

Kentucky and Tennessee have been especially terrible against the West (though Tennessee has been pretty much guaranteed one loss each year) Since 2012, this is each East team’s record against the West:
Georgia: 9-5
Florida: 7-7
Missouri: 7-7
South Carolina: 5-9
Vandy: 5-9
Kentucky: 2-12
Tennessee: 1-13 (meaning, unless I overlooked something, Auburn last year was their first West win since the last expansion)

Those cross division opponents may be having a sliiiiight effect. That being said, A&M is holding its own out west. And regardless, UT sucks. Vandy may not play Bama every year, but they’re still Vandy, and you’re still UT; you should have a better conference record.

LOL! Is this the year Pruitt gets the Vowels over the Vandy hump?

Face it UT. The Doors are in your head.

And if you extend conference records back further to 2001, UT has a losing record in SEC play this century. Also, if UT finishes 3-5 or worse in the SEC this year, you’ll be able to say that, since winning the MNC way back in ’98, UT has had a losing SEC record since that time. Insane.

(no seriously, do you have any more stats? It’s been a rough day and this brought me glee)

It’s still just astounding what Bama has done to that division. 2 of those losses are to Ol Miss! The same Ol Miss they have beaten by a combined 128-10 the last 2 seasons.
The way he’s been able to beat LSU and Auburn regularly is pretty amazing.

I have no love for Ole Miss, and they pretty much deserved what they got, but there was a little wiff of them being guilty on 2 counts of the crime of Beating Bama. Once they won in Tuscaloosa for 2 in a row, there was no doubt they would be under the microscope.

tbh I did not see MIzzou doing as well as they have when they joined the conference. They’ve been a bit of a surprise. Granted a lot of that probably has to do with how bad everyone aside from us has been, but, still…

Agree, their entrance into the SEC was good timing but also I think they came in with a chip against the SEC to prove themselves. In 2014 they lost to a 4-8 Indiana team and only to two SEC teams UGA and Bama. They were focused against the SEC and maybe, just maybe the SEC didn’t return the respect as urgently.

Hard to see how the SEC wouldn’t be more enjoyable if we kicked out the last four teams to join. At best, A&M, Carolina, and Mizzou add a striving competence. Arkansas adds nothing save an easy win in the dome in 2002.

I propose that as of this First of July, 2019, the Vanderbilt-Tennessee matchup be deemed “Dores vs. Floors”.

Have to admit I didn’t think FU would be that high, certainly not ahead of A&M, or even Auburn. In the last 7 years they seem to be more like Missy State, or maybe SC. Doesn’t justify the lofty way they perceive themselves but quietly slipping into the upper edges of mediocrity.
