Your Daily Gator is an embarrassment of riches.

Florida was up on the first day of SEC Media Days, and the Gators certainly didn’t disappoint.  In fact, what follows is a mini-Buffet.

Shoot, if I were Kirby, I’d offer to waive my program’s time today and give it back to Florida.  Surely there’s more where that came from.

The JUCO route Mullen is exploring is beyond jaw-dropping. I mean, this is UF we’re talking about, not USF. This amounts to Mullen throwing up a white flag and admitting he can’t compete with the big boys when it comes to top, 300 level recruits. Amazing.

And on top of that, you have various UF related media/reporter types vouching for this brilliant stategy, as – after all – this was his formula for success (sic) at Miss State. In other words, UF is now climbing into bed with the MSUs of the world, as Gainesville is the new Starkville and Florida is the new Mississippi.

Call me a cynic, but I don’t think UF fans will be all that content with a sub .500 SEC record that Mullen had at MSU.

    • It’s hard to recruit top 300 kind of guys from your boat on Lake Oconee.

Indeed. Dude simply isn’t a grinder like Smart, Saban, etc. I know I’ve told this story probably too many times here, but buddies of mine who live in/around Lake Oconee say they see Mullen around the area all the damn time. CKS? Most have yet to even catch sight of him, even though he’s only a quick 1 hour drive or so away.

I know people that work at BM that say you won’t see Kirby but you’ll see his car in the lot b/c he’s already at the office before you’ve rolled out of bed.

Kirby best be careful with those long hours. It’s not good for the health, family, or the longevity of success.

Yep. They said they chose that area due to close access, as compared to living out in Occone county as most do.

Also hard to keep scholarship guys while on the podium in Birmingham.

Mullen and UF football has been such a source of joy for me this offseason. I can’t explain it but watching Mullen trip all over himself has gotten so many chuckles that my family asks me what I am laughing at at least once a day. The karma this offseason for Mullen and his mouth has been epic.

The offseason isn’t over yet for Mullen either. Multiple rumors out there that more suspensions are incoming. Not sure if their true or when the announcements are coming but I doubt it happens during SEC media days.

Mr Commissioner, I defer my time to the coach from the Sunshine state.

At the rate Mullen is going, pretty soon they will be begging Ron Zook to return to save them

Perine and Snell’s remarks (on the “UF fans are the most bipolar” link) are deeply and wonderfully telling.
If their feelings towards the fan base are typical of the team as a whole, it’s possibly a large reason kids don’t want to go there.
Are UF players and former players m whispering to recruits that the gig at UF sucks?
A few losses and a WLOCP beat-down from the Dawgs could have the UF program circling the drain. There will be a loud sucking noise from the Swamp as the fans realize they are mired in mediocrity while Georgia is soaring.
Kirby knows this. This is the year he has the opportunity to seriously wound the Gators for a good, long spell.
The meaner the UF fan base gets, the more popular the transfer portal will become.
Unless the rumors of the new and improved Franks are real, UF could lose a few games.
If they do, we’re going to enjoy another off season of entertainment from Gainesville in 2020,

In a way, this is more damning than losing a 5*. Basically…
Nick Villano: Listen, I’m not great at football, but I came here because I always wanted to be a Gator. Now, you literally cannot even pay me to stay.
