Sounds like somebody’s excited about somebody.
The Georgia quarterback compared the freshman’s potential to one of the all-time greats to ever play receiver for the Bulldogs, per CBS Sports’ Brad Nessler in a radio interview with 92.9 FM The Game’s Chris Goforth.
“Pickens especially kind of lit (Fromm’s) eyes up — (Fromm) said Pickens could be ‘the next A.J. Green,’” Nessler said about his recent conversation with Fromm.
“I said ‘Come on, you haven’t even thrown him a pass yet.’ (Fromm) said, ‘Yeah, but I am going to …”
Cigarette?
I won’t start looking forward to seeing him until I hear some talk about how he’s driving our DBs 5 yards into the bench on every running play.

Yes To get playing time you’re gonna have to block.

Would love to see him getting meaningful snaps by the WLOCP. If he can get the playbook and responsibilities down that could be the boost we need for the back half of the season.

The talent of our incoming and returning WR is promising. While even a Power 5 starter like Cager will have to adapt to differences in UGA’s approach, I’m confident that Kirby and staff know what skills and capabilities are necessary for dispensing PT at the WR position. Otherwise, what fans think they know about the subject from Hudl clips, combine metrics and the “eye” remains good business for bloggers and paywall message boards …

At almost 6’4″, as Pickens gains weight, he will have ‘that’ body type that is rare at UGA. A crew of tall physical WRs will better fit the ‘physical’ description in which Georgia is now known. It may be the only missing ingredient right now.

There are several receivers I look forward to Fromm throwing to this year. I feel confident in this squad of receivers as a whole, as talented a group as I can remember at UGA. When you include the backs who are capable receivers, our passing game is going to challenge any defensive coordinator in 2019. Biggest change might be a fall off in downfield blocking, but some explosive speed and size. Fromm has time to get familiar with their abilities.

We get dissed about our receivers, but I think we have better receivers than we get credit for from the ‘swamis’. They give the receivers no credit for blocking which we (sensibly, in my view) require, and there is adjustment for the fact that we pound the rock as God intended and they get fewer touches and thus fewer yards than the more celebrated receivers.
But I have watched a lot of replays of the last two seasons – every game at least once – and our guys run great routes and have remarkable hands. Pick one of the YouTube ‘highlight’ games, and notice now many times Wims, Goodwin, Nauta, Stanley, Holloman and Hardeman names are called. Especially with less than 2 minutes remaining in a half. This is a situation where the defense knows we are probably not going to run because there isn’t that much time, but time and time again Nauta and Goodwin in particular get open, make a good – sometimes great – catch.
So, I am glad to hear that while we may not have ‘proven’ talent, we are reloading. Jeudy was a freshman last year, right?

His high school film shows him playing with a chip on his shoulder! Let’s hope this guy is a bad man!
