Like with many media interviews with Spurrier, at some point during the conversation he talked about his feelings towards Georgia. The 74-year-old Spurrier started off his rhetoric in a modest and respectful tone, perhaps because Herschel was there:
“We couldn’t tell many jokes about Georgia because they were kicking our butts. They beat Florida 15 out of 20 times in the 70s and 80s. So we got a chance to turn it around in the 90s, and so forth.
“A lot of times, those stupid jokes I told – they were just meant for the Gators.”
Lame. I actually respect him less for backing off the bravado.
I think I would kind of back away from anything negative I said about UGA too if Herschel was there eyeballing me.

He sees the hammer coming the next several years, so now he’s going to be a statesman.

I think part of him is hoping that Mullen faceplants in Gainesville, just so he can keep telling himself, “See, if they only had me back . . . “

Way I see it Steve can say anything he likes about Georgia
He beat like a drum on a constant basis
We never had a team that could shut him up on the field while he was at FL and truth be told he was able to take weaker teams while at SC and still beat us sometimes
Its disgusting to admit but the man earned the right to say anything he wishes about UGA Hell I think he has a better win percentage against UGA than Saban dose and Saban has had more overall talented teams at LSU and AL than the Evil One ever had at FL and SC

Or was it ’66? The Year of Stanfill and Patton … no title for Stevie that year

It certainly was the first year we shut him up at the hands of a Cairo hog-catcher. Stanfill received a shot to his neck to kill the pain just before the tackle dumped Spurrier 3(?) times and ruined his perfect Heisman year. On the field.

Not to forget, we were leading 20-10 and with 1 sec to go in the game, Kirby Moore twisted the knife by running it in for the score to make it 27-10. That’s when Steve acquired his hate and his revenge when he scored 50 by faking the Victory Formation and throwing a last TD in Sanford. He had really been hurt badly by that game in J’ville.

He’s a skirt wearing, sniveling coward as well as a complete asshole. But he’s not stupid. A few years back Herschel threatened to whip his candied ass. And now The Man is close by along with his anger issues. Spud knows when to watch his mouth.

He didn’t want Herschel going all Drederick Tatum on his ass.

I wish I knew why Spurrier’s opinion counts on anything after he quit on USCe midseason. If he had quit on the Gators, LSU or Bama midseason instead of USCe the SECN wouldn’t touch him. As great of a coach as he was, his last act in the SEC was to quit.
