Fields is competing with two other transfer quarterbacks in Kentucky transfer Gunnar Hoak and West Virginia transfer Chris Chugunov. Hoak arrived at OSU this summer after expected backup Matthew Baldwin transferred, himself, to TCU. Chugonov came to OSU in 2018.
“I don’t try to think about it as a battle,” Fields said. “I don’t feel like I have to be better than this guy or this guy. I’m focused on us as a whole offense just trying to get better each and every day.”
The competition is just as fierce as it was in Athens.
I should wish this kid all the best but I have this nagging hope he struggles. Partly because he seems to have black privilege and mostly because he ended up at OSU.

You seem more than happy to court that type of poster, when you are constantly harping on Fields.

Maybe instead of jokes, consider why you are so comfortable with the volume of racist comments?

(A) I wasn’t joking and (B) I have no idea WTF you’re talking about.
Other than that, solid comment.

maybe “athletic privilege”…nothing to do with color, not on the football field.

Luke Ford must have been absent when they were giving out athletic privilege.

Black privilege huh. What in bigoted hell is that exactly? You’re an adult yes, at least ostensibly? Who’s sitting here hoping a 19 year old fails?
Maybe take a break from hot takes/the internet today.

The comment was made tongue in cheek. Sorry if it taken some other way. I would say something about a snark meter but I’ll simply say I spoke indelicately. Now, if you must lecture on the subject, do so only if you’ve never said something that was misinterpreted. The “privilege” I meant was referring to his God given talent and ability, nothing else.

Those dudes must be part of the 15 that could start over Fromm at UGA. Watch out Justin!!!

It’s going to be interesting to see which former 5-star Bulldog QB ends up having the best year. My money was all on Jacob Eason given that he’s had a full year in Washington’s system, a full year playing college ball as the primary quarterback, and is three years out of high school. But I’m starting to see some reports out of Washington that he isn’t quire playing up to expectations in practice. Fields is definitely in position to shine at Ohio State. They are both incredibly gifted players. I really hope they are putting in all of the work that comes along with those gifts. I wish them well… unless they should end up across the field from Georgia, that is.

I hope Baby Stafford kills it. But, methinks he likes to party a bit too much.

Has Baby Stafford been found at a NASCAR track cuddling with his backup or using kegs for offseason work-outs?

If Fields is not the starter for game 1 my money is on the fact that he’ll hit the transfer portal again. He seems to have a sense of entitlement about being the top dog.(no pun intended)

It occurs to me (euphemism for “I think”…because who cares what I think?) that Fields is made in the QB image of UF’s Felipe Franks. They are both run threats..tall and athletic. Neither has shown a propensity to flourish under defensive pressure…and both can throw the ball well if given ample time but tend to bolt early otherwise. Fields will do well at tOSU against slower defenses. He will also have a better O line than Felipe will have at Florida. Seeing how Eason and Fields go through the next couple of years will be interesting.

Fields is head and shoulders above Franks in every conceivable way.

Maybe, I honestly don’t know yet. No fan of Franks, but they do look similar. This offense may really bring out the best in Fields, he sure looked awkward last year in the UGA offense. I suspect you are right, Fields should be better but there is just no evidence on that. To his credit, Fields didn’t have near the snaps as a HS QB as you see with other highly rated QBs; that could explain the “deer in the headlights” resemblance in 2018. Folks at practice, that I spoke to, never felt he was even close to being ready. Good size, speed, and arm, but lacked polish and confidence.

Justin doesn’t strike me as a student of the game. I wonder if he thinks his immense physical gifts are enough.

Apparently he ran a 4.43 40 according to the interview. Kid has serious wheels. Osu can get by on his and teams athletic ability alone for most games. They have a nothing schedule until penn state and Michigan the last two games. Gives him time to learn. He has a great situation for his progress at osu. If he doesn’t start that is really really (double really) telling about his aptitude.
That said, I want to pull for the kid, but there is a controversy around his departure and on field play for Georgia at the end of the season that doesn’t sit well for me.

While all the sissies and turds argue about pulling for/against young Mister Fields, you know who ain’t? The UGA Coaching Staff and the eighty-five athletes on scholarship that got a conference game in twenty-six days. Raise up off your Inner Munson, piss soaked hindlegs and keep your eyes on the prize – – if that’s even possible with your ilk.

If Chuganov is remotely in consideration for QB, bet heavy on the under for Ohio St win total.
