Except in precisely one potential matchup, I root for Jacob Eason. I do that because of that win at Missouri, that bomb against the Vols (yeah, I know how it ended), but most of all for the way he celebrated after Holyfield scored on a long run in the 2017 Cocktail Party. Good luck, Skinny.

Answer me this: Does ESPN still require a cable connection? What college football am I potentially sacrificing by going without the ESPN cable tier?
    Thanks

Not necessarily a cable connection. I have YTTV and when I sign in to ESPN, it asks for my provider and I choose YTTV. So even though they don’t have all of the ESPN channels, I can sign in to the ESPN app and get them all.
I just re-read that and I’m not sure it made sense.

I’ll try to sort that out: Some ESPN channels are on You Tube TV, and some are on Watch ESPN on your tablet?
The main reasons I’m worried about ESPN are the occasional UGA game and some golf.

FYI, the Watch ESPN app is no more. They have made everyone move to the ESPN app that includes the functionality of the former Watch ESPN app.

Anybody else notice YTTV doesn’t allow you to keep DVRed football games the full year they advertise? More like 8 months. I went to watch last year’s game against Florida and all I had was Auburn and the games after that one. So, now I’ve watched the Auburn game into the ground….(it was pretty tight there right up until Fromm to Godwin broke it open just before the half)

I believe they only allow 9 month storage now.

Really? I need to look into that. They are turning into a regular cable company…lots of channels I don’t watch and a price that keeps going up.

Well, they did just add ACC Network with no price increase, so I’ve decided that’s why I’m paying $10 more than I initially signed up for.

That’s disappointing. All I have left is tech, SECCG, Sugar Bowl, and the ’17 CFPNCG (that was replayed).

Yep, best of luck to Jacob Eason.

Spurrier’s desire for attention combined with his lack of actual effort to deserve any is getting in itself to be quite hilarious. Son of Granny Holtz.

I hope Richt’s prediction is correct. Gators start the season with a loss.

Not because of Richt…but I am on the Canes +7….will circle to 7.5…..and under 47. Two really good defenses will keep the game tight late.

      Thank God football is back.

It would be a great surprise, but Coach Richt isn’t going to pick against his alma mater and his new employer (the ACC Network) on Day One.

Most telling comment is: “I mean, he throws it to the wrong guy from time to time, but he was so accurate that he would stick it on his heart.”

      Yikes.

The so-called ‘fix’ to the overtime rules just makes things all the more ridiculous in my opinion. Why can’t we have something that actually approximates a real overtime? In what universe does starting on the 25 makes sense? I’m okay with eliminating the kickoff in overtime but make teams drive the field. Or at least most of it. Twenty five yards? It feels like Pop Warner ball.

Yeah, lets go back to the old GHSA “penetration” BS where no one had a clue what was going on!!!

    • I couldn’t disagree more. Red zone defense vs Offense is the most exciting overtime in sports. The coaches hate it, but even the NFL is eyeing the NCAA overtime method because its actually exciting and can’t end in a damn tie.

It is better than the NFL for sure, but it can come down to a war of attrition and get sloppy as it goes on. I prefer giving the ball to both offenses on their own 25 yard line. Each team gets four plays, total yardage wins the game. Most exciting eight plays of the night. If a team scores in less than 4 plays, they start again from their 25 for the remainder of their 4 offensive plays. (so you can have more than 75 yards total). Both teams get 4 plays on offense, and four on defense. No STs involved.

If there’s one thing CMR excels at, it’s imagining a field goal to carry the day.

Good to see that Richt can let his guard down and have some fun in his new role in college football. How ironic that the refs receive training in the stadium of the team they’re likely to try and screw out of a win at some point this season. Congrats to Eason and I hope he lights it up for his home state.

  10. Good thing SEC Officials weren’t in Tuscaloosa because they would never have the opportunity to review or analyze a holding penalty.

Good opportunity for Kirby to build relationships with the SEC officials. It’s something we haven’t had since Coach Dooley. Great proactive move.

You never know when that will come in handy.

We’re always talking about “X’s and O’s” vs “Jimmie’s and Joe’s” all the while there are all these other little facets of the game you have to work at to be successful within the sport.

The ROI on this might not be significant but it definitely doesn’t hurt.

Sally is such a good little comrade, always parroting the Party line. Distributing the wealth for is so akin to dumbing down the schools and giving participation trophies to all. Of course the Committee should live in the tent cities of the homeless, we should never reward success….it has such a terrible track record versus the Utopian dream. And the athletes on full scholly live in such depressing situations!

If we are going to follow this thought process out to the entire planet (that’s what no borders is ultimately all about at it’s core), then wealth distribution should mean we all should live at the mid-point of human existence. Not a math major but I can tell you, reality will come at you fast when you work through those numbers. I feel so guilty every time I stay at a place with air conditioning, or drive my Porsche fast through the curve. LMAO.

Why is this “participation trophy” such a BFD? I spent 20 years in Parks and Rec running kids sports programs and they grew out of demand by parents. The idea was that for pre-adolescent kids they should be learning the fundamental of a sport before they start concentrating on scores. There are always season ending events and giving kids a stupid little memento is not some horrible thing. Now they have the baseball cards and team pics and all kinds of swag. IMHO pre-adolescents should not even be in structured sport programs in the first place.

HAHAHAHA! Tell your typical little league parent that. I had a dad cuss me out (I was assistant coach) after a 35-27 no hitter 9u baseball game. Not one kid put a bat on a ball the ENTIRE game. Every run was walked in or scored on an error. The umpire was a total dick, he knew both coaches from high school and had a strike zone the size of a beer can. I told the Ump between innings to lighten up and he threatened to toss me. I was laughing at the whole situation and when Daddy saw me cracking up decided to get up in my shit about not taking it seriously enough.
        What a shitshow that was.

That’s why I got out of it after 20 years. I loved the kids but the adults sucked. Officiating high school basketball in Georgia was also an eye opener.

As we kickoff the season, there is no ACC Network on SlingTV, ATT Now, Fubo, Cox, Comcast Xfinity, and Dish Network. They have a long way to go.

Could not find it on U-verse in Atlanta last night (but I wasn’t looking THAAAAAAAAAT hard) – would have to think Atlanta would be their top market for distribution outside North Carolina….

I put Dish on “pause” for a couple of months to see if I was going to be able to hack it with YouTubeTv. It worked well so I cancelled Dish. As soon as I did I started having mild buffering issues on YTTV. My wife said, “you are not going to be happy if this happens during Georgia games. So I signed up for the lower tier of Charter Spectrum too. It’s still cheaper than what I was paying for dish but not what I’d hoped for. YMMV

Cut direct tv in June and watched all the big games from the last 2 years before i did. Went to YTTB with top of the line Roku and have been happy. All the football and golf I can handle. Costco had a deal on ATT fiber where you could get 300 speed for 50 a month. Put in an Eero mesh network and as of now everything is running smoothly.
