Vol Calls caller asks Pruitt which player on Tennessee scares opponents: "I would say absolutely none of them."

“And Georgia fans, don’t be turds. Enjoy this. Soak it up. It’s awesome. If you don’t win this year, it’s still not a failure. It’s a heck of a run. Back-to-back in the Playoff era hasn’t been done. So, to ask for a third I feel like it’s gluttonous. I feel like it’s not OK. But we’ll be in the mix.”-- David Pollack, On3.com, 5/9/23
He clearly just hates that team, and the team hates him. I can understand that. On both sides.

Saturday in Tooth Nation could be a sight to behold. There could be a circular firing squad quickly if BYU were to come in and pull the Vowels’ pants down.
In that case, I’m not even sure Phat Phil could survive.

Tooth Nation! LOL! That’s gold, I tell ya, gold and I’m stealing it!

Pruitt is used to being surrounded by good recruits/recruiters, he could be a cranky asshole to players. Alabama, FSU, and UGA had a solid pipeline that allowed for losing guys that weren’t buying in. UT’s pipeline started leaking under Dooley and broke under Butch. I think it’s very likely Pruitt loses this team by November and his best 2020 recruits flee. Dead man walking.

I think the evidence points strongly to him losing the team by September.

He looked like he lost them already, not sure he’s ever gotten them back since they quit on him last year in the Mizzou and Vandy games.

I’d say Muschamp fits the douche label better. Pruitt just appears to be an idiot bubba who has no business above middle-management (not that muschamp does).

Man, this is blowing up a lot faster than I thought it would. I’m going to need more popcorn to watch this soap opera. I guess next year it will be Florida’s turn.

They were supposed to be 3-0 headed to Gainesville for the brutal @Florida, UGA, Miss St., @Bama stretch. If they could get that win against Miss St at home, they could be a 9-win team with a shot at ten wins in the bowl. With Saturday’s loss, they have to beat Florida in the swamp — which they haven’t managed in their last seven tries — to get to nine regular season wins. That’s the ceiling, which is not the second-year bump Pruitt really needed to get Tennessee back.
If Tennessee manages to lose to BYU (they are just 3.5 point favorites), they probably will be 1-6, and need to sweep the rest of the East for bowl eligibility. They went 1-3 against those East teams last year. It is incredible to say, but I don’t see how Pruitt survives if he loses to BYU. He may not be fired immediately, but he won’t get this thing turned around no matter how long he is there.
My hope is that Fulmer fires Pruitt so he can take over as interim head coach. That would be peak Rocky Top.

Yessir! I want Fulmer to name himself
coach again because I want us to beat his ass. We still owe him a few.

9 wins?! I had to re-read that 3 times to be sure my eyeglasses were still working correctly. They’ll be lucky to equal last year’s 5 wins.

That has always been my heart’s desire in all of this, for Fulmer to return like Napoleon from Elba and place the crown on his own head to reign for 100 glorious days in which experiences many Waterloos.

People need to go back and really look at Pruitt’s time in Athens. He was bailed out by two tissue soft schedules, but every good offense he faced in 2 years absolutely smoked him.
It’s really starting to look like he’s a light’s out DC…as long as he has a defense full of NFL starters.

In 2014 Auburn was 12th nationally in scoring offense at 39.5 ppg. They scored 7 vs. us.
Also that year, Missouri was 13th in ppg nationally at 39.1. They scored 0 vs. us at their place.
Totally smoked!!
The real difference in success rate had little to do with whether our opponent scored a lot of points. It was how they scored those points. If they relied on finesse, like auburn and mizzou, we crushed them. If they relied on power football like UF, we did struggle.
The reason was simple. We were small, fast and well coached. Hard to coach a guy into being bigger and stronger. Leonard Floyd was a helluva player, but he’s going to struggle setting the edge against a pulling guard or tackle.

South Carolina put up 38. GT was a bogus fumble in the end zone way from boat racing him, Tennessee put up 32. Arkansas our up 32. Kentucky our up 31.
Auburn was a phenomenal performance, not arguing that; but Missouri is a bad example as Maty Mauck was in full drug addict mode at that point (allegedly).
Look, Pruitt in Athens is the ultimate Rorschach test; you see what you want to see.
But he didn’t have the talent in Athens (or Knoxville) that he had at Bama or FSU, and guess what? His defense doesn’t look so hot.

Mauk was so drug addled they won the next (and last) 6, won the sec east and Mauk passed for nearly 300 yards vs. Bama in the seccg while not reaching 100 against us.
Who was bama’s shitty ass DC giving up 272 to a cocaine addled qb?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Everyone is entitled to their opinions but it’s a shame so many of them don’t take facts into account.

Care to comment on the 5 other games i mentioned? 38 to scu, 32 to UT, 32 to Arkansas, 38 to an awful Florida, 31 vs Kentucky, etc, etc.
Believe whatever you want about Pruitt. I watched good offenses turn him inside out.
And I watched GSU do the same thing Saturday. It’s a lot harder without D’Ron Payne and Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Care to retract your “every good offense he faced in two years absolutely smoked him” comment?
That’s where this started. And I only looked at 2014 to find two examples of where you’re full of shit.
Then you doubled down on the stupid by saying that Mauk was cocaine addled when we shut them out. Coke or no, mizzou won their next 6 with Mauk, and the bowl game, only dropping the seccg to Bama.
I’ll admit Pruitt didn’t dominate every offense he’s faced. But I never said he did.

Sure, I’ll rephrase counselor: during his time in Athens, when he faced good offenses, Pruitt was exposed.

If “exposed” means averaging 3.5 points allowed per game to the 12th and 13th highest scoring offenses in America 2014, he was so totally “exposed.”

Or maybe Pruitt is just destined to be a great DC (which he no doubt is) or maybe he needed an easier first time head coaching job. Regardless, I’m not shedding any tears over his struggles right now. Quite the opposite.

I hope UT becomes the new Vandy too. I don’t say these things because I have a vested interest in CJP. Someone has to defend reality tho.

Pruitt is an asshole one-percenter. He has shown an ability to exist in a DC position where he has the presence of position coaches to be a buffer, and also a strong HC (Saban) to reign him in. He’s never lasted more than a couple of seasons anywhere else.

A ton of coordinators think they might can HC in the bright lights…shit pot load of ’em find out they can’t even come close…current ut hc is in the shit pot catagory, IMO hasn’t spent enough time doing….let’s say long term assistant under a proven HC/or had some resume building at a smaller university, kinda smells like no HC can stand pruitt more than a couple of minutes let alone couple of years, considering several peoples turned/or were turned away from the ut hc position/interview, one only knows if they’re hc material until you dive in the deep end…hence pruitt may need a life jacket for this shit storm
