Maybe some folks can point out to Kirby that noon games don’t match night games in “wow factor” for recruits and he can push back on McGarity’s urge to say “sure we’ll take a noon kickoff” anytime the opportunity presents itself?

OK, the next time that McGarity tells you that there is just random assigment of games, he’s lying.

There is no WAY IN HELL CBS would pass up LSU/Florida without some interference. Only way would be if there is arm twisting to get a second prime time game on CBS for LSU/Bama.

Our non-volunteer staff is demanding overtime for the last game and our electricity invoice has yet to arrive.

Rest assured, that is not happening again.

Except that Florida/Auburn is the 3:30 game this coming weekend in Gainesville. CBS tries to avoid having the same teams on its game every weekend if it is at all possible. That’s probably why they took one for the team this past weekend with Ole Miss/Alabama — because, on paper, the Auburn/State game looked like it would be a much better game.

They are either anticipating a gator loss to Auburn, or don’t want to feature the gators in back-to-back weeks, knowing they also have potential gator games against USCe and the Dawgs to close out the month.

Bama still doesn’t get to show off their lights. I am not all that surprised at the time, just hope Fall does arrive in October and it is dry.

On the upside, maybe some of us can get to a place to watch the LSU and Crocs that night

I85 will be fun with Road Atlanta hosting their premier event.

Looking forward to the dulcet tones of Beth Mowins that day.

    • Glad I’ll be in Sanford instead and can mute the replay.

I have to assume we’re going to have back to back nooners with UK as well.

Possibly but being home coming they may push for a later game.

I’d love to know what say the ADs have in this but then again I might just get more frustrated.

        • The TV guys don’t care about homecoming. They only are about quality matchups for prime slots. If we aren’t at noon, it will be the SECN prime time game … which wouldn’t suck.

The entire SEC schedule is a toss up that Saturday everyone is play in conf, and the big name game is UT vs Bama which should get very ugly.

If Bama can put pressure to move from noon, Sankey at least has some say. LSU has pressured to have more night games with success. So it isn’t just whatever the networks say.

I see three games on that list that are all less deserving of a decent broadcast slot than UGA vs USCe.

Yeah, I don’t get why we aren’t the 7 or 7:30 game. It’s not like our game will steal eyes from the CBS and ESPN prime time games.

But it will take eyes from Big10 games.

ESPN didn’t put us there because they feel our game is unattractive. Just the opposite, that slot is coming off the lead-in of Gameday, they like a decent draw for 12:00. None of us like it, but they view that differently, they would like to have a game that competes with noon games on Fox and the conference network dregs, it keeps people on their channel for ratings.

I wish we were at night. always, but there is a lot of competition for eyeballs in that 7-8 slot. Consolation to this is getting to watch LSU stomp the gaytors. And it won’t be so tense I can’t flip around some.

Well, the Boolebark Boulevard doggie parade is Sunday so this helps that!

I seem to recall that ESPN actually considers the 12pm slot right after Gameday as a better slot than evening games on SEC Network or other secondary channels due to the lead-in from Gameday plus relatively weaker competition at that noon timeslot. So, in that case, only Florida-LSU and Bama-A&M got “better” slots.

Of course, for fans who actually attend the games, 12pm may not be so desirable and we’d take a 7pm on ESPN2 over this. But you know the order of things . . .

I am going and I am not all that upset. Sure I have to get up early but go to the game, spend some time down town, and be on the road to listen to LSU/UF or possibly at home. It isn’t ideal but not terrible.

At least Josh Brooks won’t have to worry about too many students demanding seats for the game…

Their approach to determining their game times is yet another reason (in a long, long list of reasons) why college football is having attendance problems. They think it’s fine to make their ticket buyers wait until a week or two before the game to find out when the game will actually be.
