I don’t care what the schedule’s looked like so far, I never thought I’d see the day for something like this:
Remember, that’s with the o-line juggling injuries against a top ten opponent.

UPDATE: If it’s easier for you to follow this from a raw numbers standpoint, here you go.
The tackles for loss allowed number is almost as good.
ND follow our game up with an 8 sack performance against Va, two of which were strip sacks one for a TD and one recovered by ND.

ND has one of the Top 3 best defenses we’ll face this year. I’d even give them the edge over Florida.

Boy, it certainly does not seem that way. It seems defenders are in the backfield almost every time the ball is snapped.
Kudos to our OL (and Pittman)…..and kudos to Fromm for getting it out there (ball). Gonna miss that fellow when he eventually leaves. Don’t think some really appreciate what he does. Hope we sign 2 OB’s this year, gonna need it imo.

Watched Duke play Va Tech on Friday and they run a quick 3-step passing game that doesn’t lend itself to much pressure anyways because the ball gets out so quick. I suppose we’re doing a little bit of that as well, but there’s been plenty of 5-7 step drops and play action passing this year.

A quick look at game logs tells me that the only sack allowed was against Murray State, though for the life of me I don’t remember that play.

It was during the funk period before the second quarter explosion. Vandy got a pretty good amount of pressure. Fromm just got the ball out ahead of it in that one. The offensive line’s been good since the first game, but Fromm deserves a lot of credit for only one sack being allowed.

I’ll be back shortly…

Partial credit to Jake Fromm. He has taken some hits standing in there to complete a pass. At least one of his incompletions was directly due to being hit while throwing. But yes, those numbers are outstanding.

Aaron Murray’s last game at Auburn comes to mind as I see this. It was on the SEC network a while back and watched all I could bear. Poor guy was running for his life the whole game. We had turnstiles at left and right tackle.

The real tragedy of the awful play that gave Auburn the game was that it negated what was an all-time great performance by Murray in the comeback.

And he STILL almost brought us back.

We actually resorted to cut blocking there DEs in the second half, and it helped a good bit.

Pittman is definitely putting us in the running for the Joe Moore Award. I’d love to get that.

Duke is a legit team, especially by ACC standards. 20 years ago, it would have been unthinkable that they could throttle VT at home the way they did. Bama’s pass rush may not be very good either if Duke’s OL is posting these numbers.

I notice that Bama is #27. Imagine if the refs actually enforced the golfing rules against Bama where would they be?

*Holding rules. Damn autocorrect.

If you’re saying Bama gets to play by “winter rules”, I’m not sure why you’re getting mad at auto-correct.
