Two random stats and a question

You’re going to have to have a consistent passing game to score enough on this Georgia defense.  And if you can’t run the ball, that’s a much harder task.  How many teams remaining on Georgia’s regular season schedule qualify?

  1. No one qualifies
    1) USCjr – young QB with little running game
    2) UK – QB problems
    3) FU – can’t run consistently
    4) Mizzou – maybe
    5) Barn – couldn’t run or throw vs FU
    6) A&M -Mond is a head case
    7) Fech – hahahahahaha!

Barn lost to UF which makes them a little suspect, but it’s more likely to me that they just had a really bad game. They would be the closest to answering the question as to teams I have watched. Haven’t paid much attention to Mizzou so maybe.

      • Nix has a passer rating of 127.57, which is tenth in the conference. Color me unconvinced.

I didn’t realize he was ranked that low in the conference. Still, Auburn is third in the conference rushing, even with that passer rating. And then there’s Gus’ rabbit’s foot…my inner Munson is still going to tingle a little. Never can tell when #2 is going to bite on a run fake and let his man get behind him enough to make Bo look good. 😉

After the last two games…do opposition oc’s watch game tape and say, their best shot against UGA is the forward pass vs the run game…thru 5 games no team has honestly attempted to establish the run (given some teams had double digit deficits to over come) UGA’s front can ill afford the long term loss of one big man, Jordan Davis

Kirby has teams doing exactly what he wants them to do … abandon the run and try to attack the secondary.

Dude, Lecounte is reckless. Watch UT’s heave before the half. Lecounte tips it up going for a one handed pick. If Stokes isnt there to knock it down, UT takes it for 6. Unbelievable.

He’s the third leading tackler on the team whether you count solo tackles, assists, or both. He got an INT vs. UT. He does some stuff that has to be contrary to his assignment at times (and yes, I wish he were a little more disciplined) but he also plays a position where every mistake he makes is going to be noticed. CKS knows his shortcomings, but CKS has also played that position and chooses to keep him there for a reason.

Or, maybe they finally faced a defense with a pulse?

Well, they were undefeated until this weekend and that includes two teams with national rankings. I’m guessing they had defenses with pulses.

      • If Nix doesn’t have that prayer answered against Oregon, the denizens of Greater Opelika probably have a QB controversy on their hands.

Bottle up the run game, and the Barn is in trouble.

The stats tell me that UGA is one of the best in the country, and at times they sure look like it. My gut and 15 years of Richt-ball makes me think there’s still one inexplicable loss on the schedule. I can’t tell where it is, though.

Based on trends, it would be Auburn, but I don’t really believe in cross-seasonal trends. So I really don’t think they’ll lose to anyone left unless something happens to Fromm.

Oh it’s coming. Smart money is on UF. Someone isn’t going to wait around until we make adjustments and the offense gets going. UF is going to want it bad, is good enough to win, and is going to throw the kitchen sink at Fromm. We should still be favored and we should still win. I just think that’s where the smart inexplicable loss money goes.

Well if the trend of the past three years holds up I’d say it’ll happen in West Opelika.

There is a lot of luck involved in navigating a 15 game run to a title. Part of that is building a team whose strengths align with the game plan needed to get past the biggest obstacles. That’s going to vary, obviously. And the thing that makes the SEC so rough is the variety of different looks combined with NFL talent.

Kirby has a lot of answers, and he might be best positioned right now to make opposing teams one dimensional and limit their possessions. That could go a long way.

It’s hilarious to me that these stats trigger such doom and gloom in this comment thread. No damn team in the country has looked perfect. UGA‘s resume is as good as any other.

What do you expect from bitches and turds that gutlessly fret over uniform colors (unlike most other fanbases in the country)? Remember many of these sissies (and their Inner Munsons) pride themselves on saying we’ll lose on Tuesday so they can brag about being right on Sunday. Let that sink in: fanatics of a team that won its 15th straight divisional game rather bemoan a loss than cash a -24.5 pt ticket. The cowardly mentality abounds. While truly hilarious it does expose some sad little people; reckon that’s what the interwebs is for.

This. I am so tired of the bitchiness in our fan base and how people almost seem to enjoy it when we lose.

I do believe Auburn and Nix were negatively influenced, especially early, by the swamp. To what degree, it doesn’t really matter, however, I do believe that the barners can run the ball much better in Lee County than they did in Florida’s armpit. That doesn’t really answer your question, but it is enough to make my Inner Munson nervous.

All the big drive killing or sustaining penalties (some real, and a lots manufactured by blind zebras) is going to bite us in the ass in a close game. That is my biggest (but not only) worry right now. The best thing about that is that it is fixable.

Whomever we end up facing in the SECCG…they certainly qualify.
