💬Kirby: "It's a misnomer that I don't want the game in Jacksonville. One of my best memories as a player was playing there."

The bottom line is the bottom line, as even Kirby knows.
💬Kirby: "When you have future home and homes that's just one less home game. But the historical and financial factors in this game in Jacksonville played into the renewal."

“We have a long way to go to get to where we need to go,” Smart said. “That’s nothing to do with Oregon. That’s nothing to do with anybody we play. That’s to do with the Georgia Bulldogs...”-- Kirby Smart, AJ-C, 8/14/22
I still don’t see any way the recruiting rule gets changed. If the Iron Bowl were still played at the real dump that is Legion Field, Nick would gotten the rule changed. If there’s no benefit for Bama and the Barn, I just don’t see $ankey putting his neck out for the schools this change would benefit.

Time to call in the Auburn scheduling chit.

I’ll say. We’ve bent over backwards and then some to be accommodating to those assholes. It’s high time we got some reciprocation.

Is this really an accommodation worth losing a home game to Auburn? I certainly don’t think so. How much does Georgia make from a home game? $2 million? $3 million? Some dumbass is going to say we didn’t lose any money because we’ll just get it next year. Wrong! The Barn got an extra home game and will always have an extra home game until Georgia gets 2 home games in a row to make up for it. And we’ll always be short one home game payout. But that’s because McGoof doesn’t understand economics.

Can you please explain how the schedule was supposed to work out when every other East-West permanent crossover game was on another home-away rotation? I despite McGarity as much as anyone, but he either had to cave or give up the permanent crossover game…

We lost $2-3 Million because of that switch! And Auburn GAINED $2-3 Million! Think about it! Nobody else in the SEC lost money.

Yeah that sounds a little different than the other quotes. Kirby’s doing the spinning there.

After all the shit we have been made to lay down for, if we can’t get this change moved through, then Greg McGarity is absolutely worthless at “directing” the athletic programs.

Yep, and does anyone believe Auburn is going to back us on this, even after we bent over for them twice?

Here’s an interesting snippet from Marc Weiszer’s article from Friday…
“The schools will propose NCAA legislation next spring at the SEC meetings in Destin to allow the designated home team to host recruits at neutral site conference games. Texas A&M and Arkansas also play a neutral site game each year in Dallas. The legislation would have to be approved nationally.”

Sounds like it would have to be approved at the NCAA level too, not just SEC.

An official visit would take a NCAA rules change, unofficial would not and I believe would only take an agreement between the ADs.

But every other year UGA IS the home team, so I thought that base was covered. Plenty of teams play home games at stadiums off campus.
Seems like a technicality we need to fix, not something that is the business of sec or ncaa to dictate.

Texas A&M’s AD doesn’t want to keep playing Arkansas in Dallas. He wants their conference home games in College Station. So I wouldn’t count on their vote.

I read it … Nothing convinced me, and I don’t go to Jacksonville.
When Army/Navy and OU/Texas talk about moving their games to campus, then talk to me.
This A&M/Arkansas thing was contrived by Jerry Jones, an Arkansas alumnus. I get why people want it to go to campus.
Mayor, why aren’t you doing the same level of complaining about the games in Atlanta to be consistent?

Because the one-off neutral site games give Georgia the chance to play OPC teams we never would get to play otherwise. Hey! I’m in favor of playing those games home and away but we can’t do it without screwing up the rest of the schedule because of the WLOCP.

I thought we played ND a home & home and have a whole bunch more home & home games scheduled even with playing in Jacksonville.
We needed to do a neutral site to play UVA? Nope. We didn’t have to do that.
I thought we had a home & home scheduled with Oregon? Oh, yeah, McGarity blew that up and the Ohio State home & home when he came in to “Gatorize” the schedule.
Neutral site with Clemson? Yeah, that’s part of a 3-game agreement including a home & home.
Just say you want Florida in Athens to improve the value of your season ticket package.

Mike Griffith brought his Crying Game to the local Morning Show (960am), this morning.
Highlights:
The reason UGA ain’t won since ’80 is because of Jacksonville
Athens will never get an airport because of Jacksonville
Florida is happy
Florida gets to play FSU so UGA should drop tech
The $30 Million should go to Athens to pay teachers and police.
And the best part – – lectured Booker Logan about how long he’s
covered the SEC and knows this or that every time there was a retort
to his crying.
Thankfully, Coach Donnan is on tomorrow to sing 50’s Songs and talk up the Dawgs, lol
