According to his coach, Kelly Bryant is “day-to-day” this week due to knee and hamstring injuries.
Coming off a bye weekend, and with a road trip to No. 6 Georgia on tap this Saturday, Bryant stated that he’s currently feeling about 75-percent healthy.
“I just have to continue to rehab it and I’m just making sure that I’m not putting myself out there if I can’t go,” Bryant said. “If I can go, I’ll go.”
With those problems, I bet he’s being optimistic about that 75%.
The backup, you ask? Um…
Should Bryant be unable to go, redshirt sophomore Taylor Powell would make his first careers start. This season, Powell has completed 42.3 percent of his 26 pass attempts for 108 yards. Last season, he went 6-14 for 134 yards.

UPDATE:
I watched the last Mizzou game and he pulled up with a problem during a scramble. He was already wearing a brace. Leery of backup QBs tho. What’s our record in the last few games where a backup came in??

If the backup starts the game and plays the whole way we’ll be fine (see recent wins against UK and UF as examples). If they make the switch mid-game we’re screwed (see…well I’m sure you already know the examples).

My thoughts, too. Beware of the Curse of the Backup QB.

Yeah, just what we need, another backup QB to defend.

Bryant needs to rest for our game so he is ready to go for florida.

Most definitely. I mean, think about the kid’s health!

Before everyone gets terrified about a backup QB, remember that SC’s 3rd string guy never actually had a scoring drive in regulation.
I’m really hoping we roll early and often in this one. After the amount of bourbon I plan to consume watching Bammer-LSU, I’ll need an easy finish to the day.

We better not sleep on these guys, notwithstanding their season to date. I think they are 8-0 in November…and it would be sooooooo “The Georgia Way” to show up flat and get beat.

A back up QB. Oh shit! Our kryptonite.

I hope he has a complete recovery after they play us!

I’ll take the backup over a kid that lit us up as a freshman. Granted this is not Clemson but the guy is very good and very dangerous when he scrambles. My intermunson says this is our trap game and they are just BSing us to set the trap.

Don’t think it matters which one of them plays, Dawgs not taking any prisoners this week. 51-3

LOL, it’s a night game so I confident as well, but looks like you are the one who had a 3 martini lunch.

Geez, have we lucked out on QB situations with our 3019 opponents or what? Freshmen, emergency backups, in-game injuries, and programs like Vandy with no established starter. However, our D’s performance again Book and Trask make me feel better about the overall grade inflation factor😬
