Okay, so the SEC is going with this:
SEC coordinator of officials Steve Shaw on league teleconference: "We don't have blown calls but occasionally we have incorrect calls." He says league "doesn't go public" with incorrect calls.

I’m curious what Shaw thinks the difference between blown and incorrect is.

“We have a long way to go to get to where we need to go,” Smart said. “That’s nothing to do with Oregon. That’s nothing to do with anybody we play. That’s to do with the Georgia Bulldogs...”-- Kirby Smart, AJ-C, 8/14/22
An incorrect call is one that should have gone against Bama’s opponent. A blown call is one that shouldn’t have gone against Bama

One of those terms makes you appear slightly less incompetent.

Toe that f’n love, Steve. Wow!
This is all pending on whether or not we do get to the SECC. On the one hand, I want another shot at Bammer. On the other, I don’t want to have to play their refs again.

Steve’s love of semantics in what is ultimately a job managing personnel and mechanics is really disconcerting. He sounds like a WH Press Secretary.

If you’re talking about sex then there is a significant difference.

True. I’ve never wanted to get “incorrected.”

I rarely use the word “awesome” but that is well stated. Of course, “incorrect” isn’t all that bad. 🙂

No need to go public as nothing happens to the refs who screw up. Just like the weather peeps. Call it wrong and stay employed!

Until the inept/corrupt/bumbling/horrid SEC officiating costs the conference some money, i.e. a game is called so poorly that the winner (Bama) is denied a spot in the playoff because the bad calls gave that team a win they blatantly did not deserve, the SEC will do nothing about it.

A distinction with out a difference. Do they really think we are that stupid?

I think he is grammatically correct. Just like Mark Wohlers didn’t blow the save in the 1996 World Series, he incorrectly closed the game out. 😉

He incorrectly threw a slider when he should have blown a fastball by Leyritz.

An incorrect call goes against Bama. A blown call goes against their opponent, meaning they’ve blown Bama again to make for the incorrect call earlier.

That incorrect call was actually correct.

blown call = either unintentionally or intentionally missed/not called. Absence of a call.
incorrect call- One that is corrected after refs huddle or replay view holds the call as stands. Existence of a call.

Even by that definition he’d still be lying. He’d only have to look back at the UF-SC game for a horrible no-call.

Just one more reason that the gloom and doom of college football is on its way out sadly. Arrogant, stuffed shirts that don’t want to answer up to their job description. Still gets enough 401k money away that we all could live this on out comfortably.
