Your last home game day post of 2019

Senior Day is always a bitter sweet time.  Last game in front of the home crowd for some kids who have played their hearts out and the last football trip to Athens of the year.

You’d think Mother Nature would cooperate a little, but no such luck today.

Georgia hasn’t scored over 30 points since the first week of October.  The stats don’t give me any reason to think that streak’s gonna end, and I felt that way before I knew the weather forecast.

The flip side is that Georgia’s defense hasn’t given up more than 20 points in a game all season.  The stats and the weather don’t give me any reason to think that’s changing today, either.

The spread, in my humble opinion, is too high at 14.5.  Look for Dawgs to win by 7-10 points (usual turnover caveat applies, natch).

Let’s hope for no more injuries and for those a bit banged up to heal a bit.

Have at it in the comments and stay dry, wherever you are.

I like the Dawgs by 14, but that assumes a costly TAMU turnover.

Hate to say it but suckeyes OL is opening holes I haven’t seen ours do consistently this season. Don’t think we are anywhere near the best OL this season. I understand the AU and FU fronts had some studs but not the others, perhaps one guy (like SC) on some lines but our running game hasn’t been explosive because of point of contact. Their defense is pretty stout as well, both up front and with solid DBs.

Football Outsiders ranks OSU line statistically slightly better than UGA. Some of that is probably due to Fields escaping danger and extending plays. That said, Fromm hasn’t been sacked often and its not because he’s a duel threat qb. I hear ya, but PSU doesn’t have what looks like a big or fast line. And here’s the issue. We watch the Dawgs with a critical eye that we don’t apply to other programs. At least I don’t.

I understand, we haven’t seen them play any legit teams but State Penn is rush defense is comparable to much of our schedule and we still haven’t gashed many big holes, or controlled short yardage. We certainly aren’t awful at run blocking, but no where near what many expected. Fields certainly makes the defense account for him so that is an edge the OL has. Michigan will be a better test next week, and the playoffs will be the ultimate judge. As a whole, the ohio team might be the best, I really want some one to take them out. Nationally, a fan base that deserves the hate.

I’d say having more experienced WRs, and a good bit more variety in the run calls (and a better passing game overall) helps with those holes.

I had initially wanted to attend today’s game, but after Vandy, ND and Auburn, I have no goodwill left with the wife. She’s been a trooper but she has her limits. So, I’ll head to ATL next week for some clean, old-fashioned pin head hate with my son. I think the Dawgs cover today and get arrested next week for assault at Mark Richt Field@BDS Sponsored by the Consular Embassy of India, Korean Tourist Board and National Bank of China.

I’m going to go off the shortest limb and predict the Dawgs win ugly, largely based on the defense, with the offense doing nothing really impressive but hopefully not turning it over, so we get another round of “who cares the offense is less explosive than the North Ave. Trade School, we’re 10-1” all next week.

    4 mins left in 1sr.
    3 pts re FG.
And 8 damn 8 yards of total offense.
So why do we pay Smart those big bucks to allow an OC to make that kind of money for a zero offense.

Coley isn’t missing wide open receivers or dropping passes thrown right in the chest. Defense came to play, offense doesn’t have their shit together and it needs to start with Jake. He needs to take a keeper and get his head in the game.

I’ve never commented on this blog and I’ve been a regular reader for many years. Coley is a horrible OC. Fromm had a rough first half, but the offense and timing is out of sync on a majority of passes. The predictable run calls result in 3rd and long too often. It’s embarrassing and very concerning that we have 4 and 5 star athletes running around and can’t generate a passing attack. The defense will keep us in it. But, ultimately, we’ll go as far as our offense takes us. Sorry. Just had to let this out. Need some changes in the offseason on the offensive side.

If the Dawgs are as successful in the second half..then they’ve put together a pretty danged big win.
This Junkyard Dawg Defense can keep Georgia in any game. Just a little more fine tuning and the offense will make things even better..it’s coming. We saw some good runs from Swift, some toss sweeps, Pickens is really coming around…Jake is getting on track..slowly though that might be. But he offense is improved. Special teams are great.
Bust this thing open in the second half and the sky’s the limit.

Our offense has problems that don’t have quick fixes (obviously). We don’t have TEs that threaten defenses and our WRs are inconsistent, young, or injured. Our QB is volatile. Even run blocking hasn’t been very tight.

These offensive limitations make me believe this team’s ceiling isn’t as high as 2017. But, hey, they’ll get a chance to prove everyone wrong in Atlanta.

That said, we’re 10-1. About to be 11-1. Three MF’ing seasons in a row. Three in a row taking the SEC East, three in a row against Florida.

Bitches gonna bitch (as many UGA fans do) but we sure do win a lot.
