Gawd bless Jake Fromm, who just can’t quit his “oh, so close” narrative.
“We go against our defense when we go good-on-good periods,” Fromm continued. “Our defense is one of the best, I believe the best in the nation. They probably won’t like this, but we kind of give it to them sometimes.”
That might be the most perplexing part of the season’s output so far. The Bulldogs have shown they can move the ball during the week against the best defense in the SEC.
That’s what Fromm continues to look toward that breakthrough Saturday.
“So it’s like, if we can do it against them, we can do it against anybody,” Fromm said. “So I think it’s just a matter of us showing up and just doing it on Saturday and doing it repetitively and going out and straining for all four quarters.”
If that’s such a breeze, you’d think they’d have already done it. Either that, or we’re about to witness the greatest sandbagging in SEC history.

After last night’s rankings, I think it’s safe to say we’re going back to New Orleans to play the Big XII-II winner (if they don’t make the playoff or the loser if the the champion makes the playoff) if we lose on Saturday. We aren’t going to fall below FU in the rankings unless we get blown out.

I think it was mentioned in a prior blog post, Jake has trust issues with his young receivers.He’s not throwing with anticipation because he has to make sure the receiver runs the correct route (breaks). I am not sure what has lead to the accuracy issues Jake has had off and on all year. He’s not driving all of his throws. Hopefully there’s a closed door meeting with Jake and the WR/TE group and we get that perfect execution game from those two groups this Saturday.
Aranda is going to bait Fromm into certain throws with the coverage he is showing similar to last year. let’s see who wins this rematch.

I’m not sure Jake’s not trying to convince himself. His body language out there shows a guy who’s completely lost his confidence.

I don’t think he’s lost confidence in himself as much as it is those around him. Losing Cager is a lot bigger than people think. Check out the O and Fromm’s stats when Cager plays compared to when he hasn’t played.

Your analysis of the blocking and wide receivers earlier shows pretty much the same thing. It always seems like one person messed up and that messes up the whole play. Get them all on the same page and we might have something. WR is not a position where you want everyone replaced in a single year. Have 2 true freshman at the position is hurting. Of course, everyone says “They’re not true freshman anymore”. But they are also not 2nd year players, with 2 spring games and practices under the belts either.

I would like to see us go heavy on offense with two TE’s. We’ve run into 7-8 man boxes all year anyway. Put Jake under center more. Move the TE’s around, flexed out occasionally, and motion as lead back. Get the safeties up and use a lot more play action.

I was really close to attending the US Air Force Academy and becoming a fighter pilot. Really close.
But instead I dropped out of a public university to be sheet metal worker for ten years before moving into a sales career with an energy company.
But I often tell myself I’m practically a fighter pilot.
